JCPenney Says No to Fur
Filed under: Fashion, Best of the Season
You might recall that, back in 2006, JCPenney was in some hot water with animal activists after some of their clothing labeled as having raccoon fur actually had fur from raccoon dogs, a species of dog in China. Well, the department store has been working hard to make up for its furry gaffe and has now announced that they are fur-free.JCPenney is the first "traditional" department store to go fur-free, although other companies like Overstock.com and New York's Henri Bendel eliminated fur products last year.
As our pals at Green Daily pointed out, perhaps Tim Gunn, who has spoken out against the use of fur before, will start clothing folks at JCPenney. Hey, we're all for animal- and recession-friendly stores these days, and see no reason why he shouldn't be, too!

Well, Melvin...some r going to lose their jobs? So, should we let drug dealers and assassins keep doing their job? They might be feeding a family...right??? If "losing a job" is an excuse for doing something cruel, then u should rethink your values...There is nothing more disgusting than someone who profits from the fur industry or, someone who contributes to this! I still can't understand how people come up with excuses for that! Fur is part of life???Because some are "raised like cattle"? Well, slaves were also handled like cattle!!! And f.y.i., I think far industry is disgusting as well.

I think the inital reply to the first comment said it best. To add, fur is not a part of life. We have so much synthetic material and technology that it is unnecessary.
Animals being locked up in small cages, not being allowed to roam free and being killed for wasteful cruel reasons goes against the law of the universe. These animals are drowned, anally electrocuted, skinned alive and die painful slow deaths, in the name of "fashion". There is never a justification for cruelty. People who insist upon ignoring these facts are uncivilized and in the stone ages.

"animals were put on the earth by God for human consumption" Your level of IGNORANCE is astounding! It is, however, a typical ignorant, arrogant, uneducated lack of awareness perspective, and sadly, typical. Have you ever bothered to contemplate your own existence on this planet? probably not? Your perspective on this topic seems a bit under explored. And that is an UNDERSTATEMENT!

I love my mink-lined swimming pool. it only cost the lives of 25,000 ugly-ass minks. What are you going to have a mink as a pet? fur is murder. BITCH, PLEASE!!

Minks are beautiful, smart animals that deserve life just as much as we do. SHUT UP, because fur is not a by-product of meat. There is an entire fur industry, and the animals murdered for their skin are definitely NOT consumed by anyone, anywhere. Why don't you do your research before you make yourself look stupid, you idiot.
