Born in Detroit will be the name of the upcoming John Varvatos radio show on SIRIUS XM Radio. And, unless you count Isaac Mizrahi's guest stints on Martha Stewart Living Radio, this is the first time a top designer has hosted his own radio show. So, we know he can sew. But can he talk?

From the sounds of it, JV's show will be anything but easy listening. It's John Varvatos after all, people! Born in Detroit is kicking off on Tuesday, May 5th at 9:00 pm EST with a live performance by the New York Dolls (who are made of punk rock awesome). It will be broadcast from the ultra-hip John Varvatos boutique at 315 Bowery in New York City. (Quite appropriately, the former site of the late, great CBGB.)

So what's his show all about? From Varvatos himself:
"On my Born In Detroit show, I want to take listeners on a musical journey from the past to the present with music from the Motor City and interviews with those who were influenced by it. Right on Detroit Rock City!"

After the inaugural broadcast, Born in Detroit will air the first Sunday of every month at 8:00 pm EST on the Faction channel (28 on SIRIUS, and 52 on XM).

Not surprisingly, Varvatos is from Detroit -- you'll be hearing the music that inspired him and made him the designer he is today. Detroit is not only home to Motown, but also has an exceptional history of punk, rock, metal, jazz and more -- we can't wait to tune in!

Tune in on SIRIUS XM Radio's Faction station on Tuesday, May 5th!
