Barneys and eBay Join Forces For Eco-Friendly Auction!
How cool is this? Barneys New York collected denim all last summer and teamed up with eBay to create one of the most fabulous and eco-chic auctions ever conceived -- Project Blue!
The exclusive department store gave the recycled denim to an elite selection of designers who created the above masterpieces, currently on display in the store's highly coveted window (that's prime real estate in NYC). The one-of-a-kind fashions are by the following designers, from left to right, Alexander Wang, Ann Demeulemeester, Rodarte, Bottega Veneta, Stella McCartney, Versace and Derek Lam. As of today, each item is available on eBay for a starting bid of 99 cents.
The proceeds from this earthtastic auction will benefit Oceana, an international nonprofit which focuses on ocean conservation. What better excuse do you need to dive into shopping mode?

I love the fact that brands are beginning to refashion old styles and recycle clothes! Right now "We the Free" in Brooklyn on Smith Street just launched a Free Cycle line with AWESOME menswear for women styles. They also have Levis vintage 501 cut- off studded shorts. Everything in the line is recycled, one of a kind and made in the states. Check it out at www.freepeople.com/wethefree
