Marvel is set to release a fashion-centered mini comic book series, "Models, Inc.," in August. The murder-mystery caper revolves around New York Fashion Week and four runway models.
Our CliffsNotes' version of issue #1 in the four-part series: When a set designer is murdered during Fashion Week, model Millie Collins is the prime suspect, and her fashionable friends must track down the real killer to clear her name.
Meanwhile, the "New York Fashion Museum" hosts a superhero fashion exhibit ("Marvel as Muse?") sponsored by man-about-town Tony Stark, aka Iron Man. (Sound anything like The Met's annual fashion exhibit... and Marc Jacobs -- minus that bulky, disaster-proof suit, of course -- as host of its Costume Institute Gala?)
Tim Gunn makes his superhero debut in the above storyline, aptly titled "Loaded Gunn." (We can already picture his "MAKE IT WORK!" speech balloon.) Gunn even graces one version of the cover (above), while the primary cover is clearly intended for a female audience in its fashion magazine format (illustrated model front and center with Gotham-appropriate cover lines on either side).
Watch for Spider-Man's girlfriend, Mary Jane Watson (MJ), to make an appearance later in the series.
And while we're not planning on attending Comic-Con or anything, this could make for some really good pedicure reading.
