Unemployed? This Accessory Could Land You a Job

Here's a novel idea -- instead of working for your jewelry, make your jewelry work for you. It could even help you land your next job!
The Laid Off Need a Job wristband, much like a medical-alert bracelet, puts it all out there. The accessory was conceived by the once-unemployed Stephanie Aucoin and her designer friend Barbara Bourn.
Their alternative idea was a T-shirt. We're so relieved they didn't go that route, 'cause we just don't see how that would've worked with our pencil skirt and kitten heel interview outfit!
So, ditch your resume for a day and wear this "I can start tomorrow" accessory out and about (Stephanie did, and it got her a gig).
"They're a hit at pink-slip parties," Barbara told StyleList. And, since you're probably strapped for cash, you won't have to shell out much: They cost just $3 each. Maybe after your Laid Off Need a Job bracelet has done its job, you can afford to spring for some real bling.

All-Purpose Olive Oil Moisturizer
Ingredients: 1/4 tsp baking soda; 1/2 cup distilled water; 1 tbsp vitamin E oil; 2 tbsp olive oil; 1 tbsp avocado oil; 1/2 tsp wheat germ oil; 1 tsp liquid lecithin; 1 tbsp grated beeswax
Dissolve baking soda in the water in a glass measuring cup; set aside. Mix together oils, lecithin and beeswax in another glass cup. Place the cup of oil mixture in a pan of water (about one to two inches of water), making a water bath. Heat on medium until beeswax melts, about eight to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. When wax is melted, bring the cup of soda-water mixture almost to boiling in the microwave.
Remove the oil mixture from the bath and slowly add it to the water solution, stirring briskly. Pour lotion into a clean jar with a lid. Let lotion cool completely (it will thicken), then massage all over body and/or face.

Apply a thick layer of the paste to clean, dry skin, avoiding the eyes and lips. Relax and for 10 to 12 minutes while it dries. Rinse with warm water and pat dry. Follow with toner and moisturizer.

This is hilarious, inventive, and might even work! Fashion totally meets function with this wristband. Perhaps wearing one will eventually lead to us being able to splurge on a bracelet that we've really got our eye on!

This is smart, especially for the people who thought of it, and are now profiting from it. I was worried to death about losing my job in a down economy. Finally after about a year of searching the net I found a company called LGN (highly reputable ... look it up) that is now making me thousands in a struggling economy. Check it out ... http://www.EasyHomeEarning.com

This is an interesting AOL article....I too am out of work and have been for over a year now. I am a highly-trained Executive Secretary and I have sent out hundreds of resumes with only 2 interviews. My decision to do something "out of the ordinary"...like these pink braclets? I decided to do something I never dreamed I would do OR would ever have to do.... I have a magnetic sign on each side of my car that reads: Sandy Evans Professional Secretary, I am looking for work, are you hiring? AND, I even have my home phone number so I can be called....OH, it is wonderful to live in one of the strongest countries in the world, and not be able to earn a living since that starts with GETTING A JOB..Ya gotta love it huh...AND just keep on trying.

I am currently watching on cable MSNBC how China is now training their people English w/ all job training there so as to come here & other places and find higher paying jobs. Several mo's ago on cable tv a V.P. w/ IBM (he was from India) was showing co's in this country how they could move there bus. overseas to a no# of countrys for cheaper labor, no benefits, no insurance, incentives by various countrys to open bus. at their locations,(mostly asian countrys) on OUR NATIONAL TV, We have major co's accepting money , that we are giving them as tax payers, trying to move their bus's overseas, and our gov't is doing NOTHING to stop this. Do you have any idea how many cars alone from GM & FORD are going to be made overseas & Mexico by 2014. Our gov't has out sourced our lively hoods. Our children & grandchildren will probably be working for a foreign gov't when they go looking for work. Look at how many people who work here in the U.S. for co's who are hdqrt'd overseas & laying off people here & sending their people here to replace them. Its getting worse every day.

I wear an orange wrist bracelet with the message "I Will." I lost my job 5 years ago, and was subsequently diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. I can no longer work. My elderly parents both passed away recently, in February and March. I am living on my disability payments, Medicare and my parents' life insurance payments. The "I Will" message means that I will survive. In one way, I am relieved that I don't need to get a job, because there are no jobs available now.

Great article and a brilliant idea. I saw these women at a job fair handing out these bracelets for free. I spoke to them and they gave me some great ideas when sending out my resume.
It is a sad time in our economy that we have to wear them but what a great way to market ourselves. We have to help ourselves because NO ONE is going to bail us out.
Love the article and love the bracelet idea.
