Seriously, does this woman age?
To achieve loose and natural waves a la Roberts, Rodney Cutler of NYC's Cutler Salon offers the following tips:
- First, spray a heat protectant onto damp hair and comb through.
- Next, use a product like Redken Spray Starch for hold and blow-dry hair, using your fingers to loosen curls or waves (you can blow-dry hair straight if it's very curly). Once hair is dry, part it in the center.
- Then, starting in the back, use a medium to large barrel curling iron and wrap sections of hair while holding iron vertically. When you reach the sides and front of hair, roll the iron away from your face so curls sweep outward.
- To finish, gently comb through curls with your fingers to loosen.

I'm a big fan of Bumble and Bumble surf spray. Adds texture to my flat city-dwelling-locks. Creates a beach look in less than (hang) 10 seconds.
