Update: Calvin Klein's Racy Billboard - Will It Be Banned?

That's what many people think this latest racy Calvin Klein Jeans billboard is inferring. The Soho-situated ad, from the company's Spring/Summer 2009 campaign, is creating quite a stir on the corner of Lafayette and Houston streets in NYC.
Considering that the company's even-more sexually charged television commercial, which was shot by famed photographer Steven Meisel, was banned in the United States, it's no wonder that photos -- several stories tall -- of the same nature might have New Yorkers and tourists alike up in arms, with some even calling the image "borderline pornographic."
According to NY Mag, CK designers are loving the risque ad. Italo Zuchelli, who won Menswear Designer of the Year at the CDFAs, even called it his "favorite campaign ever!"
Eva Mendes recently appeared on a provocative Calvin Klein fragrance billboard in Times Square, and her commercial was also banned from U.S. programming.
When asked for comment, a Calvin Klein spokesperson told wcbstv.com the "intention was to create a very sexy campaign that speaks to our targeted demographic."
So, the big question: If the video's been banned, is the billboard next?

Please take it down. It promotes promiscuity, polygamy, orgies, and threesomes which devalues relationships, marriage, chastity, innocence, and safe sex.

You're kidding right? Sex is a good thing not a bad thing. You must have had a nasty upbringing to be so uptight.

You forgot to mention self gratification...and they wonder why we generated enough hatred from the religious fanatics to cause 4 air disasters and take down the twin towers...Hey! NYCers out there, litigate the sh+t out of this Ass once and for all. He has been tainting our young since Brook went without panties......Sex is wonderful...sex is divine...sex is..PRIVATE and the views held toward it are up to the Parent alone to teach. Litigate him til it's hard for him to breathe. I'll bet the Muzac precident will fit nicely here. Class action NYC, Class Action! He took it out of the magazines and put it right up there where your pre-school and prepubescents can see it and ask questions about it, thus forcing you to alter your parenting before you were ready. Worse exposing this to them has stolen yet another chunk of their childhood. Make him pay for that!

America Land of the Prudes...In many European countries, you can bath topless. Europeans are much more open about sex than Puritanical Americans. Studies have also shown that children that are raised in societies that are more open about sex also have less incidences of teen pregnancies and overall have lower abortion rates.
Sex is a NORMAL bodily function and is one of the most important drives towards the continuation of our species. When you treat sex as if it is a dirty, taboo subject, then people end up with sexual repression that leads to sexual problems like rape, pornography, etc. Sex is a beautiful thing, don't be afraid of it.

I agree with a..I know sex sells, and I know sex isn't a bad and dirty thing, but it should also be in a proper place..Now this painting isn't about sex, this is saying to teenagers and children that it's okay to have sex with three different guys at once..Bad message.Unacceptable behavior..So we are trying to combat STD's, and we are tryng to teach them about the dangers of sex, but yet the message about sleeping with 2,3,4 guys at a time is proper..ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! As far as the other readers calling people that are against this painting prudes..SORRY to tell u, I am the biggest slut with MY MAN behind closed doors, where it should be.Trust me aint no prude up in here, just MORALS!! My mom raised us with MORALS, DO YOU KNOW THE WORD, people? a like I said , I'm with you, take the painting down, it's just plain INSANITY!!!!

The only thing it really promotes is the jeans. It really makes you look at the ad. It's provocative, but it really just says, "Ha, made you look!"

marriage is a good thing between a married couple (thus the prevention of the spread of viruses and diseases between multiple people)...those of you who support this kind of picture cant see it yet?! All sex isn't good: do STD's ring a bell? I wonder how many realistic situations this poster represents...you know: one guy has aids, another syphillis, another has herpes and the rest are clean.............give them around an hour and all now are AIDS, Syphillis, and Herpes infested and Im sure they're not done yet...but Im sure they had lots of fun! ...smh

Seriously, grow up! So it's a sexy ad, who cares. It's not like they are having sex and completely naked. She's just kissing a guy, big deal. Sex is a wonderful thing. No child is going to look up to that and say oh man I need to go have a 3-some now.
And Carl, you're acting like they are full on having sex with each other in this ad, they are only topless and she's kissing one of the guys, big deal!!
Laurie Peters 6-16-2009 @ 12:35PM
Not to mention it makes her look like a Ho I dont want my daughter seeing this
mesaman 6-16-2009 @ 3:54PM
How does menage a trois equate with polygamy? I live right next to the largest colony of polygs in the country. They may be strange, wear funny clothes, look like 19th century settlers, but menage a trois? No, not now, not never. Anything more risque than the missionary position would be grounds for removal.
pat malavasi 6-18-2009 @ 8:20AM
gross gross gross...what about our children!!! how can we let them look at this???????
Master Shake 6-18-2009 @ 8:21AM
WHAT AN IDIOT NATION OF PRUDES YOU ARE! Sheesh! I hate to think of the reaction of Puritanical Americans to half of the ads around the rest of the civilized world. Gawd ... please STAY THERE and enjoy your self-inflicted prison, dumbasses.
Jason74 6-18-2009 @ 8:51AM
chastity... innocence... this is being lost due to a billboard...?? sex will occur no matter what... the billboard just has a sexual theme...im more pissed at the fact that it's being implied that ill look like that or be in that situation due to wearing Calvin Klein...
