Fall Beauty Trend - Indigo

Lancôme, under the leadership of Artistic Director Aaron De Mey, is getting ready to launch the aggressively named, sharply focused collection, "Declaring Indigo."
The blue-violet shade is the focal point of the collection, most brilliantly in the Le Vernis in Indigo Paris, a color so gorgeous, I'm banking it will achieve Chanel Vamp-like status.
(Like Vamp, the indigo nail polish is close enough to black to be edgy, but pretty enough to keep it from looking teenage angst-y.)
De Mey based his first conceptual collection on indigo because he says it embodies the French avant garde and historically defiant attitude – that rich, super-saturated color can be found in the French coat of arms and the nation's flag.
Well that fighting spirit must be in the air, as I've noticed other creative types going through their own blue-violet period for fall. Seems fitting, as Pantone's seasonal color report revealed that there is a return to patriotic colors in times of distress.
And whether or not their inspiration was rooted in revolution, at Christian Dior, Dries Van Noten and Chris Benz, designers each turned out their own versions of the super-saturated shade
I realize De Mey equates indigo with independence, but the irony is that the color is so luxe and unique, I can only imagine that the masses will be storming the Lancôme counters when it hits in August (and wearing it all through fall).
