Can a computer program dictate and define your personal style? No, it's not Big Brother, but rather his kinder, gentler and chicer cousin. Welcome to hunch.com, "a new way to help people make decisions," as the site explains.

The site was launched by the founders of flickr.com, the photo sharing site, and it offers users a series of 10 yes or no questions to determine the answer to any number of a questions, from "Where should I go on vacation?" to "Which Smartphone should I buy?" (Even "What should I be for Halloween?)

What, you may ask, does this have to do with fashion? Hunch.com covers fashion and beauty quandaries, too! Although tech and gadget questions are the most popular right now, hunch.com spokesperson Kelly Ford says the fashion and beauty categories are growing quickly, e.g., "What color dress best suits me?" and "Should I incorporate ruffles into my wardrobe?"

"Hunch is designed so that it learns something from each user and gets smarter over time, " Ford explains. "Now that Hunch is open to the public, we're looking forward to having more fashion-forward women contribute content and suggestions to the site so they can share their expertise and style with others."

Really, though, can a computer "compute" style? Well, yes and no. The site also utilizes user input -- your favorite dresses, fragrances, trends -- to help guide others.

"Hunch's computer algorithm organizes information, but it's the Hunch community that contributes all the content, ideas, and topics that give that information personality and real aesthetic appeal," adds Ford.

Hear that, ladies? Log on and see if hunch.com can help you avert that fashion crisis or even help someone else solve theirs. Or at least have some fun and kill some at work.
