Fall 2009 Haute Couture Collections

    It's a whole new world at Valentino! The namesake's traditional kaleidoscope of colorful dresses were eschewed for a mainly all black collection. Designers Pier Paolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri are to be credited for trying to take the house forward, though how the legendary designer's loyal customers cope with the change will remain to be seen.

    Oh woman! Jean Paul Gaultier's Fall 2009 Haute Couture collection showcased classic and strong feminine looks that have stood the test of time: the strong-shoulders of a trench coat; curvy, down-to-there dresses; and a Cruella De Vil-worthy fur-trimmed coat . His versions have extra drama, of course -- elegance on estrogen.
