Michelle Obama's Fourth of July Style

The First Lady skipped traditional red, white and blue in favor of classic Audrey Hepburn. Mrs.O wore a black and white Narciso Rodriguez dress, silver flats with her hair swept back into a simple bun.
The two-tone, square neck tank dress featured an empire-waisted black bodice (no belt!) and white cocoon skirt that tapered in at its knee-length hemline.
Daughters Malia -- whose birthday just happens to fall on Independence Day -- and Sasha wore sweet white sundresses, while Barack kept it casual in a short-sleeve, chambray blue button-down.
After the President's speech, the Obamas joined the military families for a picnic on the White House's South Lawn.

Combining Independance Day and "I'm not proud of my country" Michelle Obama in the same sentence seems very
unpatriotic :(

Contrary to the previous comments, I think Michelle looks fantastic. Maybe she didn't coin the LBD, but she has the poise of Audrey because she is a strong, intellegent woman. The American public should take note and be inspired.
By the way, patriotism isn't about the colors you wear. And with Bush's approval rating, I doubt the Ms. Obama was alone in her statment about not being proud of her country.

Gwen - no you don't have to wear red, white, and blue to be patriotic but why can't you be proud of your country by all the things that we have done for others around the world. America is always the first to show up in another country when a disaster happens. We are so giving to others. Think what our Great Grandfathers, Grandfathers, and now our men that are fighting in different countries throughout the world are doing for us and others that cannot fight for themselves. I am very patriotic and thank God everyday that I am an American and live in a free country. Why don't you take some time and read some history about our great nation? For you to think that it was fine for Michelle Obama to say she was proud of her country for the first time in her life should make you mad. How dare her! She has a great education and had a great job in Illinois. She has a family that had a father in the house. She married a well educated man and has two children and a beautiful home, and she has not been proud!! She would never be where she is today if she did not live in America. She and YOU should be ashamed. You are both ungrateful bitc...!!!!!!
