Anna Sui's 'Gossip Girl' Line - Not Too Steamy for Target! StyleList Gets to the Bottom of the Rumors. How Fitting.

People had their couture all up in a twist yesterday when word spread that the fashion line was a possible no-go.
The New York Daily News reported that scenes set to be shot at the Anna Sui flagship store in Soho, NYC were called off at the last minute, citing an unnamed source as saying the pre-shoot pull out was all due to a top Target exec's concern over the racy nature of the show.
But it just didn't add up. Why would execs wait this long to determine that the prep school fashionistas were too hot for the family-friendly retailer?
Anyone who knows anything about the privileged teen-centric show is aware of the boyfriend/girlfriend stealing and mature story lines.
The boho-rock, cheap and chic line is very closely connected with the "Gossip Girl" leading ladies. Even Target's look book is grouped by the show's main characters: Blair, Serena, Jenny and Vanessa.
So we took it upon ourselves to find out if this was just a rumor or whether GG was too scandalous for the store.
Rachna Shah, Vice President of Public Relations at KCD Worldwide -- the firm that represents glam-rock designer Anna Sui -- told StyleList they are unsure where the cold feet info came from, and as for the line, "it's still happening."
And Target spokesperson, Joshua Thomas told StyleList, "We are moving forward as planned with the four principal leads of 'Gossip Girl' as our creative muses." And added, "Unfortunately, there was misinformation passed around and we are still very excited about the collaboration."
Not only is Target excited, but Thomas also confirmed that the retailer will be the official sponsor of this year's "Gossip Girl" season premiere: Commercials for Anna Sui's highly anticipated collection will run during the show's equally hyped debut on September 14.
When asked if the true-to-runway collection will make an appearance on the show, the Target spokesperson said he had "nothing to share at this time." (We'll take that as a yes!)
Regarding the rumor of axing the teens of the sexed-up drama from the collaboration, Thomas says "No news is good news." No kidding! The line is still set to hit 250 Target stores and online September 13. Phew.
Looks like someone was spreading some Gossip Girl-worthy rumors!

WTF? Why would a clothing line sell seductive clothes to teenagers? They already wear as little as possiable and their parents let them get away with that...For God's sake, cover up that chit. I am soooo tired of seeing everyone's T and A...Anf for the guy's, pull up those baggy azz pants. I had to son's and a husband....I know what underwear looks like!!!! And I sure in the hell don't want to see yours while I'm walking down the street or eating dinner at a resturant...None of these teens has any moral respect for themselves..or self confidence or else they wouldn't all be followers....Leave something to the imagination people....Oh yah, I forgot....You don't have one!!!!!

Teens have buying power even though I can only guess where most of the money comes from. Often times the parents never see the outfits their kids change into after they leave the house. So businesses like Target exploit the young and the dumb. Sadly the law of unintended consequences will come back to bite them in the next generation when the illegitimate children of todays wild youth can't afford to buy racy clothes because they didn't learn a work ethic from their fun loving parents and the financial structure of this country is broken.

im excited.i love the show and i most def love the outfits that all the girls wear. They don't dress racy on the show at all, they dress very chic and sophisticated so i don't see what the big deal is. For everyone who says this is a bad idea or whatever..the clothes that the characters wear have nothing to do with their actions so calm down!

Just because people wear there pants low doesnt mean they are stupid or dumb i could see a guy with a tight shirt and very high pants someone could think he is gay but he probably isnt so if you are judging people by their attire you are the stupid one all it is is a style not some thing to be judged by

Before you start calling people stupid, you might want to take a few grammar and spelling classes.

Take it coming from a a 13 year old girl who makes straight A's but still manages to be a fashion icon...I am not a follower. I am definately not dumb. Not all teenagers are the same. One day I could be wearing baggy pants and a t shirt to school. The next day I would be wearing a skirt and a cute blouse. Yes, teenagers do contain most buying power here in the United States. And I don't like it when some mother who comes on here and thinks that they know everything about every single living teenager in the entire friggen world and tells us that our parents are doing something wrong with us. Today's youth are an empowered group, smarter and much more wise beyond our youth than any other generation. We all have different imaginations that cover different bases, but the thing we all have in common is the way most of us express ourselves: through clothing. So, unless your a teenager, I would appreciate it if you were to keep your comments about children's family life and how all teenagers nowadays are a sorry bunch. Thank you.

As a 41 year old size 2 woman, I hope there are at least a few things in the Anna Sui line that I can wear! Not TOO low in the crotch, and not too low cut on the tops! I like to wear cool fashions that fit well and I buy clothing from Target on occasion because its one of the few department stores that actually sells size 2 clothing! Old Navy and the Gap are the other two I shop at. I think it's great that Anna will be designing a line for Target. I met her about 15 or so years ago at a Miami Trunk show at Macy's in Aventura Mall. She and Todd Oldham. Both designers were REALLY nice! Not stuck up at all. They were both kind of quiet and shy but super friendly. Both of their clothing lines at the time were impeccable and well made.

My goodness everyone is very upset on this thread. Well, I'm not, I'm super excited for this clothing line! Ever since Gossip Girl came out, I've been waiting for something like this. You know where I'll be on Sept. 13 =)
