Would You Shave Off Your Eyebrows in the Name of Fashion?

Behold! No eyebrows at Balenciaga Fall 2009. Photo: Karl Prouse, Catwalking/Getty Images
A small but undeniable trend is picking up steam -- that being the trend of bleaching or (gulp!) waxing eyebrows into oblivion.
The result? A very bizarre, androgynous alien creature completely void of expression. (But why doesn't it look weird on Whoopi Goldberg?)
It started on the Fall 2009 runways of Balenciaga and Prada (fashion and beauty editors were shocked that someone was able to convince the top models to bleach their brows), and then came Brazilian bombshell Adriana Lima as a brow-free Marilyn Manson-lookalike for the latest Givenchy campaign.
Now the August cover of Italian Vogue features model Kristen McMenamy, also sans brows. Edgy McMenamy has been sporting this look on and off since the early Nineties, making her the patron saint of fashion icons minus eyebrows. (Well, her and Queen Elizabeth I.)
A great question was posed in this article from the Daily Mail about whether or not the non-conformist trend will trickle down to the masses, like punk did in the 1970s.
I'm sure a few lovers of the avant garde will give it a go, but I don't see how anyone else in their right mind would want to embrace the look
The article goes on to explain how eyebrows are linked to sex appeal and pretty much every expression a human face can make, which is why people look so alien when brows are taken away. (Also check out the Daily Mail's gallery of celebrities with their eyebrows airbrushed away. It's hilarious!)
What's your take on the latest trend of eyebrow removal? Tell us in a comment!

The thing that I found most unattractive about my face as I got older were the dark circles under my eyes. I tried everything I could to get rid of them but nothing ever worked. I got tired of seeing all the scam ads on TV for skin care products that don't work so I started dong some research about my problem on the internet and I discovered that dark circles around and underneath eye area is not usually caused by a lack of sleep, instead the membrane in that area (a vascular rich zone) of skin is readily susceptible to discoloration (usually dark or pink). I found a great product ( http://youramazingeyes.com ) that contains Haloxyl which is a new ingredient combination that has shown great promise and results in lowering the darkness of color in the under eye area. This cream is natural based so no pore clogging ingredients like mineral oil will make the problem worse. The ingredients in this natural based skin care cream are all about stimulating the pooling blood in the area under and around the eyes. This is one of the main causes of dark circles.
The very thin and fine layers of skin are pumped full of skin thickening ingredients to help maximize the cell wall to decode the see through color for the skin in that area. It also helps to firm the skin around the eyes and reduce puffiness. Extremely good for a great all around look. http://youramazingeyes.com
One of the reported side effects (there are only good side effects with this cream) is that puffiness and bags under the eyes are reduced in appearance drastically making this one of the best all around eyes cream in general not to mention for the afore mentioned problems.
As mentioned above the causes can vary a little but for most the same three causes of both under eye puffiness, bags under the eyes and of course dark circles are lack of blood flow, pooling blood, thinning or thin skin and leaking of blood in the very veinous tissue. All of these can be helped tremendously with the absolute best under eye treatment that includes peptides, skin thickeners and much more all in a natural base.

I have never been a morning person. That does not work out too well when you have to get 3 kids ready for school in the morning. I have been a regular user of multi-vitamin packs and energy drinks for some time now. I really hated the "burn out" from the drinks and taking the vitamins alone really did not do much for me. I started taking Resveratrol Pills http://cli.gs/EternalRezv and I now love getting up in the morning and have the extra energy to exercise while the kids are in school. So I am a "skinnier" morning person too. I am so glad I found this ultimate supplement: http://cli.gs/EternalRezv

Actually, Mona Lisa was a real woman, her husband did not like the painting, and refused to buy it.
And, during that era...thw women shaved their eyebrows off, new hot trend.

I bowled a 279 with my bald head last night!!! The traction from my poly-urine-thane head griped the lanes well and my shiny, bald head slammed right into the one, three pocket in every frame!

Mona Lisa also had a guy's nose... I don't see male noses becoming popular in female society any time soon.

Not only real, but what "she" a "she"? Often, it is stated that The Mona Lisa is a self portrait of DaVinci, in drag, or in woman's clothing (remember that at this time, it was not so unusual to see men in female garb as men had to portray the female roles in all dramatic performances as well as other things). So, was it the Mona Lisa sans eyebrows or Leonardo himself, without the monobrow? I do not think the bleaching is so bad as when we tint out hair, we are supposed to do our brows as well (many forget) but the WITHOUT look is a bt much. Looks like an ET sort of thing, also with those vacant eyes, which does not help, in the case of photo above. One thing that is weird for me is when they shave off their brows and then fill in the space with eye pencil. An actress, Bette Davis, maybe, shaved hers for a role, and they never grew back and she was pissed off, if I recall. Anyway, IT is up to the beholder in the end. So let them do as they please, as long as my kids do not follow suit without knowing whether they grow back or not. One thing too, guys...please learn to groom your brows as when you get older, that monobrow look is not attractive and can be doctored. You are suposed to have 2, not 1.

Alot of times people have shaved their eyebrows and they've never grown back. So you may chance looking like an alien the rest of your life.

That is false.. Hair will not cease because you cut it at the surface.
You just proved your ignorance to the world.
I bet you know people that face got stuck "making funny faces" as children also.... lol

I shaved mine off for a Halloween look when I was 20 years old..thinking they would just grow back....UGH! They did, but I had/have little "dots" that grow in between my brows that grow in hairs I have to pluck daily....I've had to do this since...I DO NOT recommend anyone doing this because you will pay in the long run...I wish I hadn't been such a idiot & listened to my friends for a costume idea....I hate my "stubble"! It's embarassing, to say the least.

I doubt your stubble has anything to do with shaving your brows once upon a time. As women get older, they get hairier. Face it.

Some people don't realize that sometimes the eyebrows do not grow back. Why shave them off and paint eyebrow liner on. Just pluck out alittle. When you get older the eybrow hair does fall out & gets lighter. No matter what you do you will still have to deal with the eyebrows.
