Big Changes on What Not to Wear - Nick Arrojo is Out, Ted Gibson Is In!
Filed under: Cuts & Style, Hair
There's a new guru in town. Photo courtesy of Ted Gibson.
Starting July 24th, Gibson will replace Nick Arrojo as the show's new hair expert. When we asked him how he felt about being asked to join the cast, Gibson told us:
"I am very honored to be part of the style and fashion experts on What Not To Wear. It's been a fun experience thus far! I love a makeover and what it can do for all women, and I feel it's important not to get into a rut and change your look on a regular basis. I encourage women to do this all time."
And as to whether this new gig will be a big change for him, Gibson says:
"Working on What Not To Wear is not any different than working in my salon, with celebrity or styling covers of magazines because all women want to look beautiful and sexy and that's what I love to do!"

I cant believe that Nick wont be doing the hair makeovers anymore. He was my favorite part of the show. He is absoutely amazing and was the one that made the major difference with the makeover. I think he is remarkable talented and I just cant see anyone filling his shoes. I am not saying that Ted Gibson isnt talented its just that I doubt anyone can top Nick A. It was amazing how he was always right on when it came to the perfect cut for each individual. The show will not be the same without him. Wish I could get my hair done by Nick!!!!

They must have had to find a token minority. Not that Arrojo was not in a minority. He was just not black.
Patty 7-23-2009 @ 10:39AM
I agree with you. I don't doubt the new guy maybe as good as Nick BUT he still isn't Nick & his dimples!
Tony 7-23-2009 @ 10:48AM
Why does it have to be about finding "a token minority"? We don't know the reason behind his leaving the show, so let's not make blanket simple statements like that.

wow! leave it to someone to make a stylist change a race issue. he may be black but probably good. isn't that what counts. give the guy a chance before shooting him down "johnny" and etc. nick is good but sometimes short isn't for everyone which he does. the grass may not be greener but lets just see. THANK YOU TONY!! you never know what goes on behind the scenes for his not returning. regardless, i'm still watching because any change to male/female that may need it is great plus the money given to them ... man, wish it were me. i will admit & say i know i need a makeover.

I have never been a morning person. That does not work out too well when you have to get 3 kids ready for school in the morning. I have been a regular user of multi-vitamin packs and energy drinks for some time now. I really hated the "burn out" from the drinks and taking the vitamins alone really did not do much for me. I started taking Resveratrol Pills http://cli.gs/EternalRezv and I now love getting up in the morning and have the extra energy to exercise while the kids are in school. So I am a "skinnier" morning person too. I am so glad I found this ultimate supplement: http://cli.gs/EternalRezv

Are you kidding he sucked, I saw more than 1 person upset after he did their hair. Carmindy is the major talent on that show........Maybe Ted can do something with Stacy's hair now......

Not everyone can wear short hair which is what Nick seemed to do with most of the makeovers. I hope the new hairstylist will do some wonderful weaves! I love my weaves and my men do tooo!

I am lucky enough that I have been Nick's client for over a yr and a half!! Not only is he talented, but he's one of the nicest people I've ever met. I've brought my 11 yo daughter w/me a number of times (as well as her girlfriends) just so they can get a picture taken w/Nick and his autograph. He is always more than willing to stop his busy schedule for a fan!!!

I am a client of Nick's and when I first went to him almost 2 yrs ago my hair was short. He suggested I grow it long! now my hair is past my shoulders and neither Nick nor I plan to make it a short "bob".

NIck was getting irritating. Couldn't you see this coming? There was never anything new or creative and he didn't have any patience with getting the women to try something new. It was just his way - basically in-between or long - not good short cuts, which can look very sexy.
They really need to say "look lady - it will grow back, the color can change next week, this look is not forever - it's not a tatoo - it's hair. We think you look great and since you took our $5,000 at least TRY it out".

Nick was pleasant enough, but I'm sorry to say that I'm glad to see him go. Even my husband noticed that he almost always, does one of two haircuts. They are usually straight and cut to either a little above the shoulders, if the person comes in with long hair, or very short, if the person already has short hair. What's wrong with a long style, or God forbid extensions every once in a while? Hopefully the new guy will offer some variety.

I agree with you Linda. I like Nick too but I think it was time. For some reason Nick didn't like long hair. Some of the ladies styles were just bad and complicated, others seem to all be the same. Maybe he wanted to leave so he started to do bad hair. I think what made WNTW pull him was the 50ish woman that was very upset when he cut her hair short and colored it darker. She was sad and crying after that thinking she was no longer attractive. When she got home she went to her hair dresser and had extensions and blonde color put back in. Lets give the new guy a chance, I think he will be fine.

I agree. Nick was a BORE. On one show, a super-sexy girl with an already short cut....he made her a BOWL cut!!!! She HATED it. I would NEVER let him touch my long wavy hair. He'd probably put a cereal bowl on my head and cut it into a noodle cap.
Toria 7-23-2009 @ 7:26AM
I agree totally. I'm ready for a change!
Michelle 7-23-2009 @ 10:14AM
I'm glad to see Nick leave the show. Goodbye Nick and cant say that the two cuts you use will be missed.

Nothing wrong with long hair...if (a) it suits the woman or (b) it is age-appropriate. Longer hair rarely works (well) on a woman 50+. We can't all be Cher.
