President Obama and His Mom Jeans

Barack Obama: Style strike-out with his jeans at the All-Star game? Photo by Tim Sloan/AFP/Getty Images
But come the weekend, when they have to mix and match less tailored separates, the polish fades and the inner little boy is revealed.
So last week when President Obama threw out the first pitch at the All-Star game, we applauded the conviction he demonstrated by wearing a White Sox jacket -- no "Oh, I love all the teams in the USA" stuff for him. Great choice.
But those jeans? Was the leader of the free world really wearing mom jeans that looked like they'd been around since 1994?
Yes, yes he was.
On one hand, I guess we should all be OK with this. He obviously has much more important things on his mind than denim trends. And certainly if he had strutted on to the field in Sevens or some other premium brand, there would have been a hue and cry about the money he spends on clothes, and whether or not taxpayers are footing the bill for a stylist.
Obama says no. He tells NBC's "Today" that really, his focus is elsewhere.
"Here's my attitude: Michelle, she looks fabulous. ... For people who want a president to look great in tight jeans, I'm sorry," he says.
You know what? Style is really all about expressing yourself. For being true to himself -- that guy the nation elected to focus on helping Americans find jobs again, getting along better with the rest of the world and taking care of our children's birthright -- he gets no argument here.

Um. I don't think ANYONE actually cares about the President's choice of jeans. And they don't even look bad. It's unfortunate that this is the best thing you could find for material.

I agree, who cares. I don't even know what 'mom' jeans are, nor do I care. I don't care what he wears, what color he is, or even what party he belongs to. We have big problems, like how much he is spending for nothing and how are we going to pay for it. Now he is pushing this insane heath bill. Our health system isn't broken, it's just expensive. In fact, it's the best system in the world by far. We need government oversight, not socialized medicine. You want to talk about a health care crisis? Wait until your kid needs an operation and you're told you have to wait a year or two......now that's a crisis. We need limits on mal-practice. A doc can spend over $100,000 a year on insurance and defensive medicine cost us over $100 billion a year. You want better cost? OK, lower my taxes (I pay 51% fed. + state), rid me of mal-practice insurance, and let me use my professional judgement rather than having to practice defensively. I could then cut my fees in half. Yeah, I keep hearing this: "Our health care system is not broken!" "It's just expensive" = most people cannot afford it = it is broken. Right? Or am I missing something here? "What if your child needs an operation and you have to wait 2 years?" Yes, that is bad. However, what if your child needs an operation and you can NEVER afford it and/or you will lose your home and become homeless attempting to pay for it?? I am a hard-working independent contractor and one of the millions of Americans who cannot qualify for and/or afford health insurance. Fortunately I avoid mainstream medicine like the plague and hope I will never need it. Dr. Gunther raises some good points about the existing system and no, I do NOT agree with Obama's plan, but obviously something needs to be done... And the jeans are fine, I'm glad he did not spend money on new jeans.

I lost my job a few months ago, as many of us are now. I was devastated, how was I going to support my family? I read about the eBay Success System in Entrepreneur magazine and they even had a link ( http://cli.gs/HomeBizSuccessSystem ) to get a free kit explaining how to make money that way. I found out that over 720,000 Americans are making a living on EBAY right now. I am one of them now. Now you can do that too. I can tell you that I'm already making as much money as I did on my job and I'm working less time than I used to spend commuting. Beat the economic depression and get your free kit today http://cli.gs/HomeBizSuccessSystem

I have never been a morning person. That does not work out too well when you have to get 3 kids ready for school in the morning. I have been a regular user of multi-vitamin packs and energy drinks for some time now. I really hated the "burn out" from the drinks and taking the vitamins alone really did not do much for me. I started taking Resveratrol Pills http://cli.gs/EternalRezv and I now love getting up in the morning and have the extra energy to exercise while the kids are in school. So I am a "skinnier" morning person too. I am so glad I found this ultimate supplement: http://cli.gs/EternalRezv

Nice MLM scam.
40.00 a month to a company in a country that you have no chance of suing because they do not agree with the US laws
Lanete Enterprises Ltd whose registered address is 3, Bell Lane, Gibraltar
Gibraltar is the Bahamas of the EU.
So, are you the company itself or a sales person who gets 75% of the 1st 6 months?
Shame on you going after people who can nto even feed their children and just want to try and get their lives back after the world almost imploded.
How do you sleep at night?
I'm guessing on very expensive sheets
I would rather have a guy put a gun in my face and robe me instead of someone like you who gets peoples hopes up that they might get a better life then find out they have lost the food money for the week

MAKE NO MISTAKE, THIS WAS PLANNED AND TRUE TO FORM, THE MEDIA JUMPED ON IT.

I agree. While I dislike President Obama for what he's doing as president, his choice of jeans is the LEAST of our concerns. In fact, I don't even think they look that bad, anyway.

Toss the mom jeans. You looked ridiculous.

OMG.. I am so glad that he is more worried about the country than having a stylist and wearing more stylish jeans. He looks great when he is in a suit and doing his job...I love the fact that his jeans are not the coolest ever.
He does stay in shape though. When I don't make time to work out, I say to myself that if Obama makes the time to work out and he is President, I have no excuse!
I am a mom of 2 and work full time, and staying in shape is rough for
me. What I do as I don't have time to go to a gym (and do prefer
walking/running) is take a brisk walk at lunch and run on the
weekends. I am a huge fan of smartsole exercise insoles
http://www.smartsole.com. They are anti cellulite insoles that help
you tone muscles, increase circulation and cause you to burn
more calories with every step. So you are getting a work out even
when you are just running errands and they are comfortable. I love
that I am getting extra exercise in when doing mundane stuff.
I read about them in Prevention mag in an ariticle on exercise shoes
and I found the code fit10 to get 10% off. I had looked at getting
the Sketchers a similiar thing but they were not as comfortable and
cost way
more....in this economy I don't have any extra money!

Stupid liberal you probably think, and this is a good one because they thrived in the Bush economy and they still won't see it. It seems they're banking on our short memories and the biased media coverage of the economy during the Bush years before the downturn. That downturn only began in December 2007, nearly a full year after a Democratic Congress (which increased federal spending at a faster clip than did the prior spendthrift Republican Congress) came to power.
Facts: Everyone has forgotten that with Bush in office, we had:
1. 48 straight months of job growth. A RECORD!
2. The lowest unemployment rate in decades.
3. Six million new jobs created, despite the Democrats lie of “a jobless recovery.” A RECORD
4. The stock market gained almost seven thousand points after 9/11. And although it has dropped to eleven thousand and change, it’s still four thousand points higher after 9/11.
5. Dow Jones Industrial Average crossing 14,000 A RECORD. The market had bottomed out after the Clinton (Democrat) inspired dot-com bust less than five years before. A RECORD
All due to George Bush’s tax cuts which the Democrats opposed!!
You voted for change you got! God I miss George W. Bush
