How Much Would You Pay for the Perfect Shampoo?
The shampoo equivalent of Beluga Caviar. Photo courtesy of Philip B.
That's the price tag on Philip B.'s Russian Amber Imperial Shampoo, which launched in the winter and gained a cult following despite the recession.
The so-called "fountain of youth" for hair contains "an extraordinarily high dose of Vitamin B5" along with a catalyst ingredient called Phytantriol that "sinks moisture deep into every strand."
Add to that the silk, wheat, and soy proteins, shea butter, and amber oil, and you've certainly got yourself a recipe for one luxurious jar of suds.
Admit it, you're kind of curious.
Well, here's the good news: The company will launch a 2 ounce version for $18 in 2010.
So tell us: Would you pay $140 for a hair product? Will you wait for the $18 size? Or are both too expensive for a shampoo? Leave a comment below!

After reading the (almost exact) same article in "Lucky" Magazine I purchased the $140 size jar of this Phillip B. shampoo. I've used it twice and quite frankly, it seems no better than th L'Oreal's EverPure or Naked Natural's Shea Butter & Avocado, both of which I purchasd because they are sulfate free. My hair is colored and I recently (2 months ago) had a Keritan treatment (hence the need for sulfate free shampoo & conditioners), which perhaps accounts for my satisfaction with the reasonably priced shampoos and conditioners.
FYI-Phillip B. offers 3 trial size produccts with your $140. order. Still doesn't make it worth that much money....

I would really like to spend my money on luxury shampoos, rather than send money to an organization that will feed children in Darfur. Or perhaps donate to Fisher House, to help house families of wounded veterans. Nah....buying shampoo is much more important.
