The pop icon arrived with model beau Jesus Luz and her kids: Lourdes, Rocco, David Banda and newly adopted Mercy James.
For lunch at the Portofino home of designers Dolce Domenico and Stefano Gabbana, the Material Girl donned head-to-toe black, layering a black Dolce & Gabbana see-through lace dress over what appear to be '40s-style granny pants (above).
Madge topped off her wacky warm weather wardrobe with a black cropped tie-front cardigan, black belt, black strappy closed-toe heels, black sunglasses and a gigantic black wide brim hat in, what else?, black. Talk about dramatic! (And is that a whip in her hand?)
While we commend Madonna's manners for wearing a Dolce & Gabbana dress to visit the duo, and admit she looks amazing at 51!, we'd think she would have opted for something more festive than funeral, especially in the thick of August.
But, that's why she's Madonna! She has never been one to conform. Period.
So, do you think the look was appropriate for a seaside summer trip or were the high-drama duds too much? Let us know in a comment below!

I'd say the ensemble represents her odd fascination with death, and/or endings, as are some. Perhaps, it's also a symbol of her dark, obviously gothic sense of humor, which i read she has. She could've at least donned a white lacey see-thru skirt, instead of black, to cheer the outfit up and make it appear somewhat summery.
She loves (black), even though she's donned other colors and tones. I suspect it means or symbolizes something to her.
