Michelle Obama Wears Shorts, Causes Fashion Debate
Filed under: News
We previously pointed out Michelle Obama's practical, yet bold decision to wear thigh-baring shorts during the first family's trip to the Grand Canyon last weekend.
And surprise, a full-on clothing controversy has followed. Even the "Today" show (see video above) was discussing whether the warm weather wear is appropriate attire for a woman in her political position.
So, once again, Mrs. O's fashion choices are the cause of much debate -- first her arms, now her legs -- what's a first lady to wear?
You tell us! Are shorts fair fashion game for Michelle Obama? Leave a comment with your opinion!

Short shorts are never appropriate for a First Lady. Bermudas would have been a better choice.

We really do need to get a life. She was hiking with her children. Is this all we have to talk about is Mrs. Obama wearing shorts? I thinks she still looked good. Why are we as women so hard on each other? She wears the right clothes for the appropriate settings and looks good in them.

She doesn't look very nice in these particular shorts and if she really wanted to wear them, perhaps a longer length would have been a better choice.

Being the First Lady doesn't mean you have to dress like an old lady. She looks great and is able to exhibit class and sexiness at the same time. Let's stop scrutinizing Mrs. Obama's body and what she's wearing and start focusing on global peace, environmental issues and health care. More power to you, Michelle!

sorry, but if you see "sexiness" in that thing you really need to get your eyes checked!

Thank you for clearing this "nonsense" up. Michelle Obama looks great in anything she wear. People that criticize what she wear has nothing else better to do; and sounds like to me a little hating is taking place.

jeri - you are so right... Michelle Obama needs to stop hatin'

Good Lord?? Have we nothing better to do than constntlt critiquing to a fault what Michelle Obama wears? This is the dumbing down of America that saddens me. The pseudo media poses these non essential questions while a collection of shut ins weigh in with uninformed opinions. Please stop it all of you!!!!

WHAT is wrong with people? How many people go on vacation and do NOT wear shorts???!! These are people, not wax figures. It is about time that we had real people in the White House.

Why is everyone so worried about what the first lady wears. Or have you forgotten that she is a human being and have the right whatever makes her comfortable. What has the united states come to we need to concern ourselves with more important things like compassion , caring and forgiveness, Love, understanding being kind to people. helping people out, My goodness we are a sad bunch of Americans.

It's not that it's somehow "inappropriate" for a First Lady but downright UNATTRACTIVE. May I remind you that this woman is 45, not 25, is VERY hippy, "wide in the beam" and doesn't have the greatest legs. Hillary, Laura etc. acknowledged their middle-age and dressed accordingly. I cringe to imagine what kind of bathing suit she's going to prance around in on Martha's Vineyard. Michelle looks like someone not really very cognizant that she's MIDDLE AGED. If she's going to glory in the title of "fashion icon" than this kind of getup shows she doesn't really GET IT. My opinion: She looks like a McDonald's worker on her day off shopping for a mac and cheese dinner for the tribe.

I'm glad the first lady wore her shorts, mom shorts in fact! I think she shows confidence, and is comfortable with herself. Too bad it wasn't more about what a great family vacation together despite the life they live now! After all how many people can say they have cameramen in trees taking pictures as you enjoy your vacation? Leave them alone to bond and enjoy each other as a family. They are real people! It's all much ado about nothing!
