From her humble beginnings on a coin purse, who would have thought the cute white kitty with the pink and red wardrobe would have lasted past childhood.

Not only has Sanrio's character Hello Kitty made it through her troubled teens and "what should I do with my life?" twenties, but at 35, she is more fashion forward than ever. (Just like the rest of us, we'd like to think!)

Janet Hsu, President of Sanrio Global Consumer Products, tells StyleList, "We like to think of Hello Kitty as ageless like the fans of all ages who bond with her. She represents something different, special and personal to each one of them and her fashion sense and expression is a way for her to really connect with her fans."

"Born" in Japan on November 2, 1974, Hello Kitty is celebrating her 35th in high style by teaming up with an impressive roster of brands.

Sneaker brand Asics has created two special versions of its women's Asics Gel-Lyte III -- one in black and gold and the other in red and white.

Dubbed the "Casino," the black and gold version was designed exclusively for Sanrio Luxe, Sanrio's flagship store in New York City's Time Square. Both editions will retail for $145 a pair with the first shipment available to the public in mid-Sept.

Swarovski is channeling a more artistic vision, using its trademark Austrian crystals in the "Super Hello Kitty Jewel Doll." The figurine first made its debut for Baselworld in Basel, Switzerland in March 2009 and will travel to the U.S. on Nov. 1 in time for the anniversary celebration.

Meanwhile, Judith Leiber, whose clutches have completed outfits of many a red carpet star, is also using Austrian crystal. "The Hello Kitty Collection by Judith Leiber" is centered around the luxurious crystal-studded minaudière but has other offerings ranging from $295 for a key fob to $3995 for a hobo style handbag.

The collection will be available this October at Judith Leiber boutiques, the designer's online store and at Sanrio Luxe.

On the cool cat's fashion ambitions, Hsu told us, "Hello Kitty has been dressed by fashion icons like Christian Dior, Anna Sui [and] Betsey Johnson. [She] will continue to evolve through the years and decades. Stay tuned!"
