Anna Wintour - Repeat Offender!

As we reported earlier, the famed Vogue editor appeared on David Letterman last night in a black and white floral frock by Carolina Herrera, sunglasses (which she promptly took off) and a chunky necklace. But this getup started looking mighty familiar after we toiled on it some more.
Indeed, the editrix wore the same outfit (with an added fur chubby and some tweaks in the jewelry and shoes department) at the 2009 CFDA Awards on June 15 of this year.
And while we're all for wearing things twice (or, gasp, more than twice), it seems a little odd for someone like Wintour to wear the same very recognizable outfit to two very high profile appearances.
When quizzed by Letterman, perhaps instead of suggesting purchasing lipstick in lieu of clothing as the logical answer to a slashed fashion budget, Wintour should have stated the obvious: make use of what you already have.

Bashing anyone for wearing something twice in a 2 month period is an insult to people of middle and lower SES incomes everywhere. If you can afford it, should one really have an different outfit for every single occasion? That's absurd and far from green.

Wasn't she also wearing the same dress and necklace in the Documentary film clip that was shown on her Letterman interview? That would make three wearings... (She obviously wore it to the office on a workday during the documentary shoot.) To me, that's the eye opener - to wear the same dress she "wore to work" on Letterman.

We are going through a recession. People have lost their homes. You are so old fashioned as to still think that WEARING CLOTHING TWICE is a fashion statement problem. The dress is very pretty and fits her. Where is the problem ... in YOUR HEAD!

OK that's ridiculous. sure shes the editor and chief of vogue. But is not wearing the same thing twice in the job description?! no! So what if she does?! She looks great on both occasions.

If wearing an outfit is a problem, then I guess I'm in violation on a bi-weekly basis. Never mind recession. Some of us live paycheck to paycheck and find it NECESSARY to reuse clothing on a regular basis. I've always thought it was ridiculous and a waste for celebrities to use the "wouldn't be seen dead in an outfit for a second time" mentality.
