We know fashion Marilyn Monroe's glamorous style is alive and well through the celebrities she's inspired -- just look at Agyness Deyn from this Year's Met Costume Institute Gala -- but who knew there'd be such clamoring for a chance to be buried next to on top of the blonde bombshell?

Widow Elsie Poncher put her husband's burial crypt -- located directly above Marilyn Monroe's -- up for auction on eBay.

The auction closed yesterday with a bidder from Japan placing the winning $4,602,100 bid ($100 more than the next highest bidder), according to The Los Angeles Times.

Cash-strapped, Poncher put up the space for auction to pay off her mortgage. Bidding on the space at the Westwood Village Memorial Park cemetery in California -- where Farrah Fawcett was recently laid to rest -- started at $500,000 and escalated with 21 bids before closing at the multimillion-dollar offer, the newspaper explains.

But now the Japanese bidder is retracting the winning bid, emailing Poncher's representative, "I am awfully sorry, but I need to cancel this because of the paying problem," the paper's site reports.

The widow's late husband, Richard Poncher, had purchased the space from Joe DiMaggio when DiMaggio and Monroe were divorcing in 1954. His widow says that when her husband died in 1986, his body was positioned upside down so that he could face Monroe, adds the site.

Ebay is currently accepting new offers from the auction's other 11 bidders for the next 24 hours. If the sale is finalized, Poncher will have to relocate her husband's remains.

So much for a final resting place!
