Creator of Huge Lips Skinny Hips Lip Gloss (at Scoop, Ron Robinson and b-glowing), Karen Robinovitz takes us through the trials and tribulations of creating a beauty brand from scratch. Everything she's blogging right now has happened already -- it's the background to catch you up on how she got to today.

Now the fun part: We launched the brand to the beauty bloggers.

I wanted to do something totally different and out of the box: a full day tour of the inspirations for each shade of Huge Lips, Skinny Hips, complete with a bus that showed a video of Veronica Varlow, a burlesque chanteuse who "modeled" each lip gloss shade on our site to the sultry tune of "Something or Nothing" by DNA.

The six hour tour went like this: A private pole lesson for Kitty Poledancer (our teacher Barbara had our chins on the floor! Good thing we gave everyone So Low yoga pants for the work out.); a trip to Louboutin for Red Sole (beautiful blogger Felicia Sullivan won a $700 gift card after we had a raffle - not quite enough for a full pair, but super close!); a lychee martini lesson with cocktail Colin of U'luvka vodka at Meet (sick event space in Soho); a little book I wrote to pay homage to Kate Moss for the shade Worship Kate.

For No Panty Lines, I handed out my favorite (purple) G-string over white mini Magnolia cupcakes (if they're white, they don't count!). The finale: Veronica Varlow showed us the color "Love Your Thighs" (our coral shade) with a sexy act (she stripped out of a beaded gown and fan danced in Agent Provocateur, my favorite lingerie). She gave everyone thigh highs - and most importantly - a tutorial on putting them on.

The girls loved it. I loved them. It was a big fat smooch fest – and they all posted incredible pieces on their blogs.

Stay tuned... because next time, we finally shipped... but then found out we were months late for research and development for the next products. Always something!
