After supportive letters flooded in after the magazine ran unairbrushed size 12-14 model Lizzi Miller naked, except for a thong, in the magazine's September issue, Glamour has decided to focus its lenses on plus-size beauties once again.
For its upcoming November issue, photographer Matthias Vriens shot the full-figured Miller once again, along with her curvy model counterparts Kate Dillon, Jennie Runk, Amy Lemons, Ashley Graham, Anansa Sims (daughter of Beverly Johnson) and our favorite model-slash-author Crystal Renn.
Renn, whose book "Hungry" about overcoming an eating disorder is being released next week, told StyleList that she has high hopes for fashion moving away from the waif aesthetic.
"It starts with the sample sizes and I think designers are becoming more aware. I think there have been many positive changes. I've done all of the Vogue's and Dolce & Gabbana ads. It's just a matter of time before it's brought back to mainstream," Renn said. "Women want to see themselves in the pictures -- they want to see their size, color and height. I think if that happens, it'll make women feel more empowered and they'll love themselves more."

Glamour editor-in-chief Cindi Leive says that was certainly the response received after 20-year-old Miller posed with her slightly saggy stomach and full thighs on display.
"I am gasping with delight...I love the woman on p 194!" said one reader, who wrote into Leive.
Another reader said: "This beautiful woman has a real stomach and did I even see a few stretch marks? This is how my belly looks after giving birth to my two amazing kids! This photo made me want to shout from the rooftops."
With Forever 21 launching a plus-size line, Gossip's Beth Ditto going nude on the cover of Love (and designing a clothing line for Evans), "Dance Your Ass Off" on prime-time and even British Vogue's editor-in-chief Alexandra Schulman denouncing the size zero samples used by the major design houses, could we see a curvy girl trend on the rise?
What do you think? Leave a comment below.

It is great to see that more people are embracing women of all shapes and sizes. Women should be comfortable with who and what they are.

I was lucky enough to never have been overweight in my life. That all ended after the birth of my second child. I got down to 20 pounds over my normal weight but no matter what I did I couldn't lose the rest. I didn't know if was age catching up with me or if somehow my metabolism changed. Whatever the reason, nothing was working. I tried all the bogus "diet" pills that we see all over the internet, but are just scams. All I ever lost with that stuff was money. One of my friends, knowing what I was going through, told me that she had been losing weight using a special plan http://bit.ly/FatLoss4You It laid out the facts in a way I never saw before and had easy to follow meal plans and diets. Not only have I lost the weight and kept it off but I'm leading a healthier lifestyle, mostly from the knowledge I gained from this amazing program.

I had been overweight for the past five years. I had tried almost everything in the market, right from taking diet pills to enrolling in a gym but nothing really worked. Yes I did lose a few pounds but nothing substantial. It was then that a friend recommended Acai Burn ( http://cli.gs/AcaiBurn ) to me. I have been using the product for about a month now and have slimmed down considerably. I have actually started to wear all those dresses that I had put off for so long. The product is definitely one of the best weight loss products in the market today. I have already finished two bottles of Acai Burn and am on my third bottle now. It totally changed my life! Not only did I lose a lot of weight quickly, I have also never felt more energetic and so full of life!

After having two size four wives, I learned late in life that big is beautiful, and that many BBW's are lots of fun in bed and very willing and eager to please!!!
I think I'll keep this a secret, though, so that there's more for me!!

Nope, size 12/14 is NOT PLUS size. It is NORMAL size. In a time when a size 6 is considered plus, things need to change, NOW!

while i was reading this, i was thinking, when did 12/14 become PLUS SIZE?
really sad commentary on our society. congratulations to Glamour stepping out of the box!!! we need more "regular" looking women in ads!!!

You're absolutely right! When I was in high school, I was a 12-14 and I'm 5'8" tall with LONG legs. I was FAR AND AWAY from being any kind of plus size - any of the guys who loved to follow me down the hallway admiring my "women's curves" and "legs up to THERE" can tell you the same thing! One in particular....... :-) Back then - a 12-14 was perfectly normal, and easily available in the regular ladies size department! The "Plus Sizes", the "Half Sizes" or "Women's Sizes" or even the "Queen Size" departments had all the clothing for our "fluffier" sisters - and they were awful - bullet-proof polyester "bags", and terrible colors and awful prints - or nothing at all.
NOW - anything with two digits is considered "PLUS SIZE" and it's ridiculous. My frame alone couldn't be a size 8 if I had no flesh on it whatsoever........and who wants that! Ladies - be healthy, be happy, embrace your own curves if you have them, and a LOT of it is in your attitude. I do not think of myself as a "Plus Size" anything, I don't dress like I am, although I DO dress to suit my style and my body and everything FITS me, and I don't carry myself like I don't think I'm all that AND a bag of chips! Head up, look people in the eye, smile and get OUT there! Attitude is where it's at, ladies - get a good one!
BUT please make sure you get the size you need when you buy clothes - ignore the numbers and buy what fits you! I can wear six different "sizes" depending on what it is, who makes it, what their "size range" is and how it's put together! If you THINK you wear a size 14 - but it's too small for a particular garment, ignore the numbers and go find what fits you best. Nobody is going to examine the tags inside your clothing but you, but EVERYONE can see how your clothes fit - or do not fit - from the outside! FIT is everything - numbers are just a guideline! I see too many girls and women trying to wear clothes that fit them BEFORE a particular event - weight gain, a baby, whatever - and certainly don't now and it is not flattering and it does nothing for you at all. It's very unflattering and calls attention to all the wrong things. Even attitude can only go so far. LOOK in a mirror! A BIG mirror - the one in the bathroom over the sink just doesn't cut it!

Actually, if size 12/14 is considered normal, then a size 6 should be a MINUS, not a plus, right?
BTW, I agree with your opinion. Real women have curves. However, I don't find the picture of Beth Ditto on the cover of Britain's Love magazine attractive at all. I hate to use the F word (you know, the 3 letter one), but her weight is not healthy. It's one thing to be comfortable with yourself, it's an entirely different thing to try and convince yourself that there won't be serious repurcussions to your health in the future for maintaining that amount of weight.

UGH Thank you very much!!! I'm so sick of seeing 'plus size' people, and they're average. That model is tall and skinny with a bit of post baby fat. Get a tummy tuck and she could be on the cover of cosmo with the rest of the skinny people! size 14-16W starts at being plus sized! Nothing below that!

I'm sorry but I disagree. A size 12-14 is definitely Plus Size. I think what's sad is that most Americans have become so fat and lazy....that instead of trying to get down to their ideal weight, they bring the ideal weight down to their level. I read an article which described how dress sizes for women have gotten BIGGER, not smaller as some women on here may have you believe. The Article discussed how a size 8 in the 1970s is a size 6 today. Today, what most companies label a size 10 would've been a size 14 in the 1970s!!!
However, when you read most of the comments by women on this page, it's saying the exact opposite. That's the second part, people's expectations have changed. When they were thinner people thought 10 lbs or so above the ideal weight was ok but pushing it. Now since so many people are above that threshold, they would be inclined to think that 20 or 30 lbs over their ideal weight is ok.....when there's no reason to think that perception should raise; at least not scientific or biological evidence. Moreover, I saw an article in Slate that suggested men with pot-bellies are actually hot and are setting some type of trend. So being lazy and out of shape is hot? That's interesting.
The way I see it, most people who are overweight got that way because at some point during their life, they did not monitor calorie intake versus physical activity. It's a pretty easy freaking equation: if you consume more calories than you burn, you're going to gain weight. Sometimes, it's not the person's fault entirely becuase they began making bad choices and being lazy as a child...and no one put the kibash on that. Nonetheless, that's no different from the guy who needs social assistance because he doesn't have a good job which is the result of him making poor decisions as a child (i.e., not applying himself in school, skipping classes, not trying hard enough to learn).

The clothing industry has really done anumber on women. . . I was a size 12 in high school. . .suddenly in the early 70s, I became a size 10. . . then in the 90s I beame a size 8, and the last time I bought a new wardrobe for work I was a size 6. . . in high school and into the mid-70s, I weighed 118-125 pounds. . . in the 90s I weighed 130 pounds. . . and when I bought the size 6 clothes, I weighed 135. . . now I weigh 145 and I wear a size 8-10. . . ladies, the sizes have changed gradually since the 70s when women started thinking they were fat so manufacturers changed the size structure. It is really womens' fault. . . I think this gal is gorgeous and I'm so glad to see the magazine world starting to get the hint that anorexic figures may look good on the runway but look really nasty on the average woman!!!
Teresa 9-02-2009 @ 10:54AM
I so agree with your comment. Enough with the skin and bones. It's time to see real women with healthy shapes.
Sarah 9-02-2009 @ 1:34PM
i'm a size 12 and I have a fatty stomach i weight 156 pounds and allot of loose skin from losing 80 pounds. i am still called fat everyday.
deidre 9-04-2009 @ 2:03AM
I agree. They call plus size 12-14? Huh!! try more like size 18 and up..that is plus size. You can still buy off the rack when you are a 12-14. You start getting into 18, 20, 22, 24 and up then you have a problem. And not all plus size stores make clothes that are flattering to women like us. But at least the world is waking up a little and beginning to realize we big ladies though we have thighs rubbing together and folds hanging..are still sexy and fun and worth taking the time to get to know. Some of us might breathe a little harder too but small price for a significant other to pay for the experience of a lifetime!!!
