Gucci can breathe a bit easier now that over $3.8 million of fake Gucci shoes have been seized by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
Disguised as home decor, the shipment originated in China and contained over 15,000 pairs of the knockoff luxury shoes.
The shipment was going through Norfolk, VA when it was seized by CBP officials in a routine inspection. Officials estimate that the counterfeit footwear is worth $1,963,520 with a manufacturer's suggested retail value of $3,851,520.
Mark J. Laria, Norfolk's area port director, adds, "CBP is charged with enforcing trade laws and we continue to devote substantial resources to target, intercept, detain, seize and forfeit shipments of goods that violate these laws."

PAR!
Our government seizes and stops fakes shoes from entering the country but allows terrorist and illegals to enter freely.

Well, if illegals and terrorists would just sit quietly in a container it might be just as easy to catch THEM. Idiots.

Big E & Vicki--you are both idiots. The shoes they seized are fake... meaning that the people making them are placing Gucci labels on them and probably plan on selling them AS Gucci's. I love to buy things cheap. But, when you steal someone's name and market it as real, it is theft and you are being deceived. Kudos to the agents! I sure as hell wouldn't pay those prices for ANY shoes. But, if I did, I would want to make sure they are what I thought I was paying for. If you don't like their prices, don't buy their shoes! If you put your hard work into designing and selling your original ideas that is a huge success, you would think differently. As for terrorists... I think our government has kept us pretty safe so far--considering there are thousands and thousands of terrorists in the world. And, I sure haven't heard of thousands of successful attacks--which would be the case if they just roamed in and out of our country freely! So many people want to find fault with our country and those that enforce the laws. Why can't they just move to Iraq and see how happy they would be?
Master Chief 9-03-2009 @ 5:12PM
They are both the same junk, except one has an absurdly expensive price tag.
They have worse things to stop from entering the US, than stupid gucci shoes.

Whoever calculated the value of these shoes is smoking crack!
15,000 X $10 = $150,000. Even at that, the shoes didn't cost 10 bucks from the factory in China. Street price? Less than $50 or $750,000 - including the margin for the seller.
The importer never dreamed of earning the millions the Customs Service is claiming.
What a crock of crap!

Anyone who would pay that kind of money for such UGLY shoes is stupid anyway. I wouldn't even pay $10.00 for the knock-offs, much less over $500.00 for the real label.

I would never spend that much on shoes. Never. Shoe shopping for me is to buy cheap, nice looking shoes. No they last forever, but they can be replaced with the latest style of cheap, nice looking shoes.
