Vogue photographer David Bailey is just shy of beating Si Newhouse out for the longest tenure at Conde Nast. Suffice to say, he's seen a lot, especially changes in the quality of work for fashion magazines. On photo retouching, he says "it's a leveling out. It's a bit like socialism".
