Sex may be in the city, but Kristin Davis' fashion line will not!

Belk department stores and Davis have pulled the plug on her namesake collection of sportswear and accessories that was sold exclusively at Belk, in turn canceling the collection's runway debut at the Style360 venue during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York on Sunday, September 13. (Less than a week away.)

"This was a difficult business decision we made together as part of out normal course of brand and merchandising evaluations," Belk President of merchandise and marketing Kathryn Bufano said in a release. "We both understand that the challenges of the economic and retail environment have led to even more close evaluations and adjustments."

The Kristin Davis Collection for Belk stores has been available since fall 2008 and contains moderately priced sportswear pieces, shoes, accessories and more formal dresses, styled for a Southern woman in a "modern, feminine and style-savvy" way. The collection will be available through the holiday season.

In the release, Davis added, "I'm looking forward to taking my brand in a new direction and I am excited about the possibilities that lie ahead."

We'll have to settle for glimpses of Davis herself (or more like character Charlotte), as "Sex and The City 2" started filming in New York City last week. Davis was seen joining her cast mates Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall and Cynthia Nixon today, on set in front of the Plaza Hotel.
