Women Will Suffer Painful Heels in the Name of High Fashion

It's often said that women suffer for fashion, but now there are actual numbers to back it up!

Research released by the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists in the UK, found that 37 percent of women will wear shoes that are uncomfortable as long as they are fashionable, reports BBC news.

The survey of 2,000 women also revealed that nearly four in ten will buy shoes that they know don't fit.

Lorraine Jones from the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists warns that most people in the UK suffer from a foot problem at some point and that the culprit is often poor-fitting shoes, says the source.

As for those "killer" heels, Jones tells the site they are prone to cause problems. Plus, warns to be especially cautious of slip-ons, which cause the foot to slide forward.

For day-to-day wear, Jones recommends a low-heeled shoe (no higher than 4cm or about 1.5 inches).

Yikes! What about those Balmain zipper boots with the 4-inch heel or those classic pointy-toe Manolo Blahnik stilettos?

There goes our (ideal) fall shoe wardrobe!

Actually I have worn nothing lower then 4 inch heels for almost 35 years so they arent uncomfortable to me and I really hate when people always comment on how much they must hurt my feet. They don't. They make my back feel better actually
and make me feel better. i feel like such a slob when I wear flats and I am 52 and dont see ever not wearing heel that high either

THIS POLL IS NOT FAIR! What about the rest of us ? Those of us who wear gorgeous fine leather high heels that are well made AND comfortable! When a shoe is well made you'd be amazed how high you can go without pain, I don't care who the designer is or not. Maybe not four inches, but I look pretty darn good in 2 3/4 or 3 inches! You don't have to be square to be comfy.

I am a high heel fanactic! I feel fabulous in them, and get tired of people asking me if my feet hurt. I am 59 and have over 300 pair of shoes and joke about wearing them when I am in a wheelchair or at least carrying them on my lap...when I am 90.

I am not a women so there for I do not where high heel shoes, but it is my opinion that if a women wants to where high heel shoes and take the chance of damaging her feet that is the womens choice to make. I just do not think that 6 inch spikes on any women look very good.
