Blake Lively celebrates Anna Sui's "Gossip Girl"-inspired collection for Target. Soul Brother, FilmMagic

While traveling in China promoting her recent perfume, Anna Sui thought it strange the young girls were asking her "Where's Williamsburg?" or "What's uptown and downtown?"

That is, until it struck her -- they were asking her about the television show "Gossip Girl."

"It's not even broadcast in China -- they were watching it online, which is the phenomena of 'Gossip Girl,'" she shared, adding that her nieces got her hooked on the teen drama.

The show's reach and its characters' personalities made it a perfect inspiration for Sui's capsule collection for Target, set to launch in Target stores and online on September 13, in time for the debut of the third season of "Gossip Girl" on September 14.

"There are so many characters to inspire me," Sui told StyleList. "They represent the different aspects of my design. There's the vintage style, there's the rock 'n' roll aspiring designer, there's the girly girl and there's the more sophisticated girl. I use all of those elements in my design and they were just a perfect vehicle for me to create a collection."

New York fashionistas, including actors Jessica Szohr, Michelle Tractenberg, Blake Lively, Taylor Momsen and Penn Badgley were treated to a sneak-peak of the collection at the launch of the Anna Sui for Target pop-up shop Wednesday evening. The shop, at 54 Crosby Street in New York City's NoLIta, will be open to the public through the weekend.

While Sui's favorite item in the collection is the antique lace dress, the hottest item at the shopping party was a little more weighty. People -- old, young, big, little -- were clamoring over the black ruffle coat.

Get 'em while you can.
