THE SCOOP: Jen Kao's designs are a clear reflection of her Japanese roots, affinity for detail, and formal education in studio arts. All of these components come together and breathe life into a collection that is fluid and visually refreshing. Llyod SImmonds, the lead makeup artist for MAC, was inspired by Kao's direction - for models to look like they were on vacation, just stepped out of the water, and changed to hit the town. To mimic this dewy look, Simmonds applied a liquid foundation with a wide brush and used cover up when necessary to conceal tired eyes. A sheer powder to eliminate shine is pressed in before highlighting with an illuminating powder around the eyes, on nose and the cupid's bow (upper lip). To complete the look, lashes are curled and topped with a black mascara and lips coated in a pale pink.

Shiseido hair maestro Tadashi Harada followed suit with a style he described as "simple, cool, and wet." Harada used products from Shiseido's Japanese line including a mixture of two gel sprays to smooth strands backward and a control spray.
