Short on cash, but in dire need of a root touch-up? Save your hard-earned money and let your roots show like Mira Sorvino!

The Oscar-winning actress was spotted with deep, dark roots at the "Like Dandelion Dust" premiere at the 35th American Film Festival in Deauville, France.

"Cameron Diaz has been doing the root thing for awhile, so it's sort of a chic thing to show your roots," says Charlie Price, runner-up on Bravo's "Shear Genius" and two-time North American Hair Stylist of the Year. "It's sort of a trend for spring."

However, that doesn't mean it's a good thing. "I think that three or four inches is way too long if you're not a rock star," Price says.

Adding, "Ultimately, the the public wants someone who has access to everything to look good -- especially when they're at something glamorous like a movie premiere."

Other stars not afraid to let their roots show? Madonna -- often. Sandra Bullock, Gwyneth Paltrow; the list goes on and on.

Showing your roots may work on the red carpet, but for work, it's a no-no.
