Nigella Lawson Channels Dita Von Teese, Goes for Vampire Makeup Look
The actress showed up with pale-white skin, dark hair, and blood-red lips, reminding us of vampy pin-up girl (and Marilyn Manson ex) Dita Von Teese.
And Dita isn't the only actress embrace the "undead" makeup look. Another famously pale-skinned Marilyn Manson ex, actress Evan Rachel Wood, is currently doing a guest stint as a vampire on "True Blood.")
So was Nigella jumping on the vampire makeup bandwagon? Or did she just take her look a little too far? Click on the gallery below and decide!
Beautiful Women, Bad Makeup
London, September 8, 2009
Actress and chef Nigella Lawson usually goes for the natural look at public appearances (left). But at a book signing this week (right) she showed up with an extreme vampire-style look--blood-red lips, pale skin, and dark hair. Perhaps the star is a fan of "Twilight" or "True Blood"?

British songstress Lily Allen was photographed leaving Nobu with rings of iridescent eyeshadow, and the rest of her face was seemingly bare. Quite a look, Lily!

Christina Aguilera has proven that she is the red lip maven. But the pop singer didn't stick to the ultimate beauty rule of highlighting one feature when she hit the town in caked-on teal eyeshadow and smeared lipstick.

Pamela Anderson switched things up and went natural (well, with her makeup, anyway) at a recent Richie Rich press conference to announce their new clothing line Muse. We prefer Pam's youthful glow over her usual look - colorful, caked-on eyeshadow, blush and lipstick, that, after a certain age, can make an actress look more Flashdance extra than leading lady. Cher made a rather ghostly appearance at an inaugural ball, where bright salmon and orange eye shadow turned her skin sallow - she looked a little too "Morticia Adams" for comfort! We prefer the singer in the makeup look on the left - fresh faced and fabulous.

Salma Hayek. With her jet-black hair and hazel eyes, striking Salma doesn't need much more than a little here and a little there to play up her heritage. But layer on the costumey red lipstick, the silver shadow and the mile-long lashes, and the star looks like she's trying too hard be in an Art Nouveau poster.

OK, Katy Perry, we know you're a girly-girl. But, honey, you're only 24, which means that now's the time to play up your fresh-faced sweetness. The too-blue shadow, bold black liner and overly-oranged cheeks age you. Even you look surprised.

Carla Brunei. This is the woman who swept the president of France off his feet? Though Carla Brunei's appeal is obvious with her soft, understated makeup, she looks like a wood elf when she takes the scrub-faced look to extremes. Aren't world-famous models supposed to know how to put on makeup?

Kylie Minogue. Though the Australian pop singer has churned through 1001 over-the-top costumes, she's at her best when she sticks to simple hair and natural makeup. Poufed, pulled and sporting green eyeshadow to match her Grecian gown, Kylie is, well, an Impossible Princess.

No one likes letting go of sun-kissed summer skin, but heaping on bronzer is never the answer. The Welsh beauty is at her best when she plays up her Snow White complexion.

As a make-up artist I know how important lips are to any woman, whether supermodel or super-mom. I'm therefore always up for trying something new, but after being disappointed with the performance of other lip plumpers I was not expecting too much from Cushy Lips ( http://tiny.cc/CushyLips) . I owe it to my clients though to keep up to date on new cosmetics so I gave it a shot anyways. I have to say it without a doubt outperforms any other lip plumper of its type on the market. It does really visibly increase the size and softness of your lips, and it has a very pleasant texture to it. When I did the make-up for a photo-shoot last week I used Cushy Lips on the models, and afterwards all of them wanted to know what I had used on them so they could go out and buy it as well.http://tiny.cc/CushyLips

If you're lucky you don't know what it's like to be the "fat friend", well that was me, and it isn't fun. I tried everything you ever heard of in an attempt to lose weight. I went through those scam acai berry "diet" pills, none of which work, and lost nothing but money. I never gave up trying and about 6 months ago I discovered Grow Lean, ( http://cli.gs/GrowLean ) It is unlike anything else I ever tried before and it actually helps you burn fat, as well as make you look younger. Anyway, I started losing weight rapidly and now I'm the one getting the compliments when we all go out. What a life changer that has been.

Her lipstick looks fine, but the photographer caught a bad smile on her. Maybe if she liked the photographer she would have smiled nicer. What did the photographer say to get that "eeewww!" expression from her?

"Blood-red lips"? I don't think so! Much more of a brick red than a blood red. And her hair is the same color as before, and her skin, although lighter due to foundation/powder, is hardly what I would call "undead." She looks fine.

I agree- she hardly looks vampy, or like a vampire- I like to see women in red lipstick- a classic look. She looks very 40's glam to me.

Since when did classic red lipstick become the "undead" look??? It's not even that dark!

What a senseless article, Nigella simply has red lipstick on - and brick red to boot, not blood red! I normally defend articles online when people complain they aren't news etc but this is a blatant waste of space, it's not even fact! She looks exactly the same except her lipstick color is different.

I agree that Nigella's make-up is horrible. She is a beautiful woman and for her, less is more.
