BEAUTY SNAPSHOT: Confident, bold "IT" girl

THE SCOOP: When First Lady Michelle Obama walked out on Inauguration evening in a stunning white and billowy Jason Wu gown, the previously unheard of young designer's career was literally launched over night. For Spring 2010, the beauty look stands out confidently in the spotlight. "I waved black strips of tulle through a messy chignon for a vivaciously young, modern yet spontaneous look. Nothing about it is structured. It's carefree!" says Gilbert. Bold red lips took center stage, and eyes were balanced with a neutral palette of biscuit and taupe shades. "On the nails, we're doing a gold shimmer with matte overcoat on top for a gorgeous vintage antique look," added Valinoti.

GET THE LOOK - MAKEUP: All makeup by MAC. Create a youthful complexion that glows from within by sweeping Mineralized Foundation Powder all over. Apply Kid and Saddle eye shadows to gently brighten eyes while still keeping them neutral. Go RED with the scarlet Classic Dame Lipstick if you're fair, or the deeper burgundy Cyber Lipstick if your skin is deeper.

GET THE LOOK - HAIR: All products by Aveda. Gilbert first applied Glossing Straightener balm to make hair easy to work with, and then spritzed on Aveda's number one selling product – Style Prep Smoother. Gilbert then pinned a loose chignon in the hair, and tied in strips of black shimmery tulle to for a glamor-meets-bedhair look. Air Control Hair Spray was the final touch.

GET THE LOOK - NAILS: Valinoti applied CND's brand new Gold Shimmer Nail Polish on the darker-skinned models, and Copper Chrome Nail Polish on the fairer skinned beauties. Both polishes were finished with Super Matte Top Coat, which gave a burnished antique-look to the manicure.
