Getting Purse-onal - Keeping it Together During Fashion Week With the Perrin Paris 1893 Martha Bag
Filed under: Accessories, Fashion, Runway Report
Fashion Week should be a glamorous time to enjoy shows, see friends, drool over expertly crafted garments and divine accessories, and pick up the occasional swag bag. But, look beneath the surface and you'll find fed-up editors and overworked writers complaining about a hectic schedule and endless trips from one corner of the city to the next.
Like most things in life, I find that a good handbag can solve any dilemma. This season I've enjoyed using my Perrin Paris 1893 Martha Clutch to keep me organized, sane and as pleasantly unaffected by the ballooning fashion week schedule as possible.
The Martha Clutch is a 12in by 6in leather zip-around wallet clutch that also has a convenient spot for your blackberry, camera, pen, and – a fashion week requisite for any freelancer and good self promoter – business cards. I've even been able to squeeze in my small notebook and NARS Turkish Delight lipgloss.
Within my day bag, this clutch keeps essentials in one neat place – a must when you're constantly on the go. By night, I take Martha out on the town as I cover evening shows and glittering events. The beauty of Martha is that it's functional, yet fashionable and exquisitely crafted so as to be able to hold its own next to a sleek cocktail dress. Being able to pull out this clutch and have everything I need for the evening switch makes the day that much easier to manage!
Overall, Martha is perfect, pretty, well organized. Could there be a Martha Stewart connection somewhere? Actually, there is.
This past March, while spending some time in Los Angeles, I had the pleasure of visiting with Michel Perrin, the Creative Director of Perrin Paris 1893, in his gorgeously serene Beverly Hills home – featured in the June 2007 issue of Harpers's Bazaar. Michel shared that while flying with Martha Stewart to her house in Maine, she emptied the contents of her handbag – was it one of her Hermes Birkin bags? – and commented that she wanted to be able to keep everything in a clutch, travel-type bag. And so, the Martha Bag was born from the Martha Stuart's need for an immaculate interior within her bag.
Perrin Paris 1893 handbags and accessories can be purchased at elite department stores and boutiques across the country, and their soon-to-be-open boutique in Beverly Hills, the first store for the brand in the United States. Naturally, I'll be on hand to cover the entire, celebrity-studded affair and get purse-onal with all the Hollywood starlets.
Oh, will Martha Stewart be there too? At least my Martha -- clutch, that is -- will be by my side!
