And while she is all glam and sequin-covered in the inside photos (see below), the accompanying interview reveals the same down-to-earth attitude for which the actress is known.
"I love my life, I really do," she tells the magazine. "But there are moments I battle with it. Some days I want nothing more than a brilliant mask so I could look like someone else and go wander the streets and be free. I'm very peeved that Halloween only comes once a year."
Speaking of dressing up, when asked by InStyle about her greatest fashion faux pas, she replied: "Anything I wore on the red carpet in the E.T. era. What was I thinking? Velour and taffeta, together? Oh, no, no, no. Now I think it's brilliant."

"I don't have the time or discipline or interest in having a perfect-10 body," says the 34-year-old. "I work out, I eat right, but I'll always be a little bit of Jell-O on a pole." Could have fooled us!
She also goes on to talk about her belief in girl power, "I don't understand women who are competitive, apart from positive forums like athletics," she says. "One person is a powerful thing, but a tribe is unstoppable."
"I love that when I was a girl I was never told, 'You can't do what boys do,'" she adds.
Regarding her rocky relationship with her mom, the actress reveals: "I am OK with my dad [actor John Barrymore], but my mom [Jaid Barrymore] and I have yet to work it all out." And explains, "I don't talk about it because... how do you talk about something that you're confused about?"

If you're lucky you don't know what it's like to be the "fat friend", well that was me, and it isn't fun. I tried everything you ever heard of in an attempt to lose weight. I tried all the excercise programs you ever heard of. There wasn't a diet program that I didn't try. I went through those scam "diet" pills, none of which work, and lost nothing but money. I never gave up trying and then I finally found the blood sugar diet. And I found a supplement ( http://theworldsgreatestsupplement.com ) that was unlike anything I ever tried before because it contains Cembelex. Cembelex helped me maintain a normal blood sugar level, which curbed my carb cravings and helped me end my binge eating. Anyway, I started losing weight rapidly and now I'm the one getting the compliments when we all go out. What a life changer that has been.

Working as an esthetician women have always asked what they can do about their wrinkles and how to keep looking young. I always recommend just one skincare product, I tell them about Beauty Lift http://BeautyLift.notlong.com and how it contains the most potent, doctor grade wrinkle erasing serum that revitalizes the skin and reduces signs of aging. It's much better, safer, and less expensive than Botox. They always come back to tell me how great it is and how much younger they look. It’s a great product and I back it up 100%.

I have always been very afraid of aging, you know, becoming old and useless and unattractive. When I turned 50, I decided to do something about it. I've spent fortunes on face creams and anti-aging serums… but using GenFX is the first time I've tried turning back the clock from the inside out. It's also the last time I'll spend a fortune on face creams! Now everyone says I look 35!

I really hate these people who complain about their lives so much when they have so much. She just wants to put on some mask and go out and be unnoticed huh? Peveed Halloween only comes once a year huh? Well, I'm sure ven when Halloween does roll around that you're not out there pretending to be someone else. We ALL would like to be someone else at times for alot of different reasons but we don't go around complaining about it. She chose this life style and I don't beleive for one second she is sorry she did. I'm all for a person that is able to do what they love and make a living at it, most of us can't and that's just life, nothing to complain about right. So while you're all sad wishing you were someone else, why not look at just what you DO have rather than wishing you had more of something else? Nevermind, I'm sure she can't understand that concept nor can many people who read this becuase theyw ill feel I don't like this woman and are just bashing her. Well, that would be very wrong. I don't like anyone who has so much in life yet TELLS others how they wish things were different. Fact is, those people wouldn't give up a thing to change their lives. If so, they could very easy but then that would mean saying bye bye to all that money and and fame and well know THAT aint never going to happen.

Why all the hate Joe? This very down to earth, kind and talented woman simply made a statement that everyone on the planet wishes. It does not sound like she is complaining at all.
Yes, you are down on Drew whether you want to think so or not.
I only wish you could use your evil for more good and pure deeds, like Drew.

Did you read the same article I did? She said she's very happy with her life. She just stated that sometimes she'd like to wear a mask so she could escape scrutiny - how is that the same as constantly complaining? So, judgmental. She's a breath of fresh air in a very fake industry. Oh, and to say she chose this life -- she was, like, six years old when she starred in E.T. and acting was all she knew. I wish people would show more kindness and less judgment.

Joe, apparently you think money and fame is "everything" because it is what you referred to as "everything". Never mind feeling sorry for Drew, I feel sorry for YOU! Obviously, you believe wealth and power are the important things in life. SInce when is money and fame the recipe to make someone happy? So, you are saying celebrities can't complain simply because they have things you will never be priviliged enough to have? Give me a break, quit bitching about celebrities and reading stuff about them if it makes you unhappy and angry. It doesn't matter how much money or fame a person has, they still have feelings and have the right to voice them just like you do. True happiness comes from within. Quit scrutinizing people you know nothing about and go get a life, Joe.
P.S. Drew Barrymore was a childhood actor and was raised in this lifestyle, just like you were rasied to be... If you actually knew a thing about her, you would know that she did not exactly choose this lifestyle. She is just making the best of what she's got, just like the rest of us.

Who cares if her body is "soft" or not? She shouldn't be intimidated by the size #2 types with a rock-hard stomach--only OTHER exercise-freaks think thats cool! The rest of us mortals start paying attention when you hit size 12; and it shouldn't take 6 hours in a gym every week to stay under that. And of course we give a break to Mrs. Obama and other black ladies--(Tyra!)-- for having the big-butt look--you can't argue with genes!

Wellllllllllllllll, jello on a pole? THAT could definintely get a guy interrested in jello. Drew is waaaay hot. She's not only great looking (and a great actress) but she has a self-depricating way about her that shows she doesn't take that acting thing too seriously and, for me, it just adds to her sexiness. There's so much hype, who knows what famous people are really like, but she seems warm and genuine, so I'm sticking with that fantasy.

Joe, I understand (I think) where you are coming from, but I don't agree with your message. Barrymore didn't "choose" her work, really. She was a tiny kid when they stuck her in movies and when you keep on working in one field, it is not so easy to try another. I like her. I like her films ("Never Been Kissed" is still one of my favorites and I am not a teen-ager. Far from it). All she is saying is that it is hard for her to go out in public and enjoy her life in a more anonymous way, as most mortals are free to do. I would not want to be a celebrity these days. You cannot sneeze or trip or eat without some bozo jumping in front of you with a camera. Frankly, I think she handles it with a lot more grace than some (like Jude Law or Russell Crowe, to name two). And it is the public who keep clamoring for all the stupid nonsense that gets written. She's cool in my book.

I don't get the appeal. Not particularly attractive. Not particularly talented. Who are the people clamoring to see more of this person? Is she the female Seth Rogen? I really don't get it.

Personally, I think a women of average height should be about a size 12. It gives her a beautiful figure.
I was at a wedding yesterday and a "woman" (about 30 years old) who was about 5' 2" came up and introduced herself. She began to tell me how much time she spends at the gym and proudly stated that she was a size 4 (like I was supposed to be impressed).
She looked like a 8 year old child. I wanted to tell her to come back after she'd gone through puberty, but I was a gentleman about it, and simply excused myself to go and kiss the bride.
Tiny is not cute, ladies. Unless you're searching for a man who "likes" children. Give me a woman anytime.

appreciateswomen: I think I'm in love with you! JK, but it's nice to hear that there are men out there that appreciate a woman's body that is more "mature". Thanks on behalf of real women everywhere!

Appreciates women??? No, you do NOT! What an ugly comment! Do you really think you sound more open-minded because you are criticizing small women? It makes you just as close-minded as if you were criticizing big women! There are beautiful women of all sizes....and so much more to them than their height or weight! I am 5', 120-lbs. and I have always HATED the stereotype that petite women are supposed to be dainty and ultra-feminine and childish. I ride dirt bikes, I kick-box, I also cook and sew. Who I am is NOT defined by my size. I know size 12 women that are dainty, that prefer lace & ruffles and have 'little-girl' voices. And I love them the way they are. Take your damn blinders off and see the woman, not her size. And btw...yes, there are some foolish women who think they are 'special' because they are a size 4, that is ridiculous. A beautiful figure is about proportion and looking healthy, not a stupid size.

To Nancy: I wasn't trying to "sound" open minded. I only wanted to expose the myth (that women torture each other with) about smaller being better. It's not.
Another total turn off is a person with so much hate and anger inside of her she has to distort and fabricate assumptions about a perfectly innocent posted opinion. Apparantly, you did this just to feel "right" about exploding all over it. Go back to the kickboxing ring and work some of that hostility off.

Drew is the perfect 10 in the girl next door look. I know what it's like to try and lose weight. I lost 47 pounds in 6 weeks using the Rapidthin diet at www.rapidthin.com. Good luck to all. Use what works for you.
