Rihanna's New Blonde Highlights
by Laura Kenney (Subscribe to Laura Kenney's posts), Posted Sep 23rd 2009 at 11:35AMThe 21 year-old singer debuted stripy, bleach blond highlights last evening in New York City. An edgy addition to her already edgy crop, the highlights add a decidedly 80s flair to the Barbadian beauty's look. And while the 80s are in right now, we're not totally sold on Rihanna's new 'do.
But not like she'd care. Because when it comes to her hair, Rihanna's a rebel. The singer famously enlisted hair stylist Ursula Stephen to chop off her long, Beyonce-esque locks (remember those?) in 2007 before shooting the album cover for Good Girl Gone Bad - and without giving her record label, Def Jam Recordings, any advance notice.
But that's ancient hair-story.
We want to know how you feel about Rihanna's new look. Tell us, below!

I have always been very afraid of aging, you know, becoming old and useless and unattractive. When I turned 50, I decided to do something about it. I've spent fortunes on face creams and anti-aging serums… but using GenFX is the first time I've tried turning back the clock from the inside out. It's also the last time I'll spend a fortune on face creams! Now everyone says I look 35! www.antiaginggenfx.com/

To all of you spammers out there. GO AWAY! Why don't the web sites STOP these idiots from taking up space. It's truly annoying to come to these forums and all you see are people's ADS trying to convince you to buy pills so you can have a bigger penis, age slower, lose weight, date a hot chick, ect. AOL is the worst about allowing this. It sucks!
As for Rihanna... She has far bigger troubles than her hair. The style is nice. Her hair is pretty. But.... why do you guys have to insult each other over a simple topic of hair. Why are you all hating so badly towards each other? It's truly sad to know you all probably have children that your passing this hate onto. They will learn it. They'll learn to hate white people, and black people depending upon YOUR skin color. Wouldn't it be nice to have your children playing outside, and look out to see little black girls and little white girls playing with their dolls or having a tea party. Or your young boy's playing with their cars/trucks and laughing and becoming friends, possibly for life.. verses calling each other the names they hear mommy and daddy saying? I'm a parent. A successful one who raised a young man to NOT see color. He's getting his PhD and will most likely be treating your kids one day because of the DAMAGE your doing to their young minds. You can't even be nice to each other on a web site. It's very sad and shameful. WE as a people have the power to fix the racism issue ourselves if we all just LET IT GO and start fresh. It begins one person at a time.
As for Rihanna, which is what this is about, her hair does look very pretty. But she has work to do. She let a man beat her and then refused to take a stand. Yes, the prosecution DID go forward but without her help. Women are NOT punching bags! But it will never ever stop UNTIL the day comes where as women we ALL AGREE....no more.

She still has a painfully shrill voice and lousy taste in songs.

Finally someone who thinks the way that I do! I think her song "Umbrella" is the lamest song I've ever heard. And I think it even won a few awards. Seriously, I haven't heard really good music since the days of Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, and the Temptations. (Although I must admit there was a time during the 80's when I was crazy about the band Journey. In fact, I still sing at the top of my lungs every time one of their songs happens to come on the radio, ha! ha!)

Well then either you're not listening to a genre of music that appeals to you these days or you're completely closed minded to new things. Either way, obviously Hip Hop and R&B isn't your thing, But to say there is no good music since... is just stupidity. There are some really great bands out there, all you have to do is open your ears and your minds ~ A DJ
Lanzario 9-24-2009 @ 9:09AM
I agree with Sara 100%, you must be old as hell to name those bands, besides Journey wasn't that great of a band, maybe during your time but now its time for you to move on, most of those band members are dead, at least Rihanna has multiple hits that plays on the radio unlike Journey who gets the only 2 real hits they've had played which is Don't Stop Believing and Anyway you want it
Fran 9-24-2009 @ 12:07PM
I will try to covey this in laguage you will understand: Yo! Listen up Sara & Lanzario! Without us...yes ...we who blazed the trail ( look it up ) Sara would be kept at home til she married & you. Lanzario, would face a real shotgun for boinking then putting a bun in a girls' oven. There! You see the difference. I managed to say what I needed to say, convey an idea without name calling, tossing the F-bomb, or complaining about how unfair life has become which are, by far, the main messages found in hip-hop /rap. You can't even call what's out there R & B. Admit it! Which lyric below gives you that warm & happy feeling? Is it: "I'm gonna shove a flashlight up my B*tch til her T*ts light up!"? Or is it "You light up my life!"....don't bother to reply. The answer is moot.

I happen to love Journey. They are a decent band and I'm not fond of Rihanna's singing either. It just depends on the person so don't put down Marit just because he/she likes Journey. I'm not old either and I will prefer to listen to Journey over a majority of the bands now a days. I'll listen to rock and alternative music but never r&b and hip hop.
JBaer 9-24-2009 @ 5:19PM
Lanzario thinks most of the members of Journey are dead, huh? Did he read any obituaries we didn't know about? Nice going, bonehead. They're all still alive.
Now back to my original point. Rihanna has a shrill voice and wouldn't know a good song if she tripped over it. And to make matters worse, she is symptomatic of the current trends in the music industry. No longer do these big shots at record labels care about quality; they only give a rat's rump about image. As long as Rihanna appeals to young people one way or another, she'll top the charts with a recording she made in her shower!! Give me old school R&B any day--and if you can't hack that, STEP OFF!!

It's her style and decision. Why do you have to throw black in their? Let her be young, have fun, and live her life!!! That's what being in your twenties is all about.Get over yourself Kathy!!! It's the twenty first century!

I was going to say the same thing. With all the african american people making fun of white (we need a fancy name, white insults ME) people for trying to act and look like them. I personally think it would be insulting to those same African Americans to have Rhianna try to look less African American by putting blonde highlights in her hair in an effort to look white.
I personally think Rhianna looks like Prince. (or I guess it's the man formerly known as Prince). She looks man-ish.

there is nothing more painful to see than WHITE CHICKS TANNING SO MUCH UNTIL THEY LOOK LIKE CARROTS & TO RECEIVE SKIN CANCER & TO WRINKLE UP LIKE ELEPHANTS!!
JAZZEE 9-24-2009 @ 10:03AM
Kathy,
Your comment is just plain stupid. Many Black women look good with blonde hair or blonde streaks, what are you afraid of that the old adage "blondes have more fun" now applies to us as well. White women color their hair black, red, brunette, platinum, and now blue, purple and every other shade. Blacks, Latinos, Asians and everyone else is doing the same. You have a problem that has nothing to do with hair color. I sincerely hope that you don't have children.
Just My Humble Opinion,
JAZZEE
