Usually when a model stumbles onto the runway covered in blood, it's because she made the unforgivable error of borrowing Naomi Campbell's eyelash curler backstage without asking.

But at yesterday's Seduzioni Diamonds Valeria Marini show during Milan's Womenswear Fashion Week, onlookers were stunned when blood-splattered model Lucrezia collapsed on the catwalk, London's Metro reports.

As the audience of fashion insiders looked on in horror, a man sitting in the front row rushed to her side, the paper reports.

End scene.

Yep -- turns out it was all fake, as the model and her "rescuer" were secretly filming a scene for director Salvatore Arimatea's new thriller film, "Dolls," according to Metro.

Good one, guys. There's just one problem. Between bleeding models and Lady Gaga's blood-gushing performance at the VMAs, we detect the beginnings of a "boy who cried wolf" situation.

Stay away from those sharp objects, girls! You may not be so lucky next time.
