However, according to The Telegraph, the photo has been taken down after officers from the Metropolitan Police visited the gallery.
"Officers from the Obscene Publications Unit met with staff at the Tate Modern regarding an image. The officers have specialist experience in this field and are keen to work with gallery management to ensure that they do not inadvertently break the law or cause any offense to their visitors," a police spokesman told the paper.
The Richard Prince photograph, titled "Spiritual American," is actually a picture taken of Gary Gross's original photograph showing a naked, heavily made-up and oil-slicked Shields from the knees up.
According to the source, the photograph, which was part of a larger exhibit, was to be displayed in a separate room with a warning in front of the door, labeling the work "challenging." The paper reports that visitors coming for a preview of the exhibit said that the room is now closed.
