Fox Anchor Liz Claman Defends 'Business-Sexy' On-Air Wardrobe
Filed under: Fashion, News, Best of the Season
It isn't all business for Liz Claman -- at least as far as her wardrobe is concerned.
The Fox Business Network anchor tells Forbes she prefers to go "business sexy" instead of the usual dullsville you would expect of someone with her job.
Her goal, she tells the source, is to "attract, not distract." And attract she does with her "confident, camera-friendly blend of body-conscious knits and tailored separates, minimal jewelry -- and the occasional leopard-print shoe," reports Forbes.
Claman, who each afternoon anchors an hour of news followed by "Countdown to the Closing Bell" and "Fox Business Bulls & Bears," tells Forbes about the time she had to make a stealth style decision.
She was covering the election last November in Chicago and the weather turned out to be too mild to wear anything she packed, so she made like a seasoned fashionista and threw on her sleeping T-shirt and paired it with an Hermes scarf.
Shame on all of us who thought Fox News was a black hole of style.

I have always been very afraid of aging, you know, becoming old and useless and unattractive. When I turned 50, I decided to do something about it. I've spent fortunes on face creams and anti-aging serums… but using GenFX is the first time I've tried turning back the clock from the inside out. It's also the last time I'll spend a fortune on face creams! Now everyone says I look 35!

I was watching a news story on the controversey of Barack Obama's back to school speech to school kids and was SHOCKED at the number of girls in school who wore similiar outfits in the schools. Boobs, boobs everywhere. Where the heck are the standards? I must tell you that it is little wonder that our schools are getting failing grades. I refused to let me daughter go to school wearing pants that required some odd gyrations in order to sit down or get up so that the split that God gave her wasn't exposed. I have continually said that it is OKAY that girls dress this way in school because of a huge breakdown in authority and leadership. However if my son were to wear pants that exposed his crack that the schools would QUICKLY know how to "crack down" (pun intended) on such displays. It is little wonder that our daughters have less and less valued themselves and found that popularity is based on their full sexual exposure in inappropriate settings when grown women who apparently have some credentials feel they must "advance" their careers by wearing clothes during the daytime hours which are usually worn on the street corner for some other type of marketing efforts. Sorry - I just think that our culture has become far too salacious and overexposed and that now TV women who show their boobs on TV shows as "newswomen" (who I am supposed to take seriously?) continues our cultural and intellectual slide. It is little wonder that we have so many issues of sexual issues between school personnel and students. And why we have an incredible increase in the number of men who try to solicit sex from teenagers via the internet. TV influences our culture. However, in my workplace if there were a women who exposed her boobs like many TV women are doing they would be talked to - if you think sex sells in advertising - it surely sells in the workplace - and apparently in our schools too and we are none the better for it. I actually believe that in future years even in my workplace those barriers will begin to come down. So then the question may become - how much exposure is too much? My answer is all of it is too much.

I completely agree it is hard being a parent to a girl with all of these outside influences saying that it is acceptable to dress like a hooker. Unfourtunaltly the same way the children are influenced to dress like wh**** so are the older women so they are able to still feel as though "they still have it." I am more than sure this anchor woman feels the pressure to look, what we consider today, attractive. As we all have come to realize that when women choose to go out looking attractive, less is more.

Amen, could not agree with you more

I could not have addressed any of your points better~ THANK YOU! I long ago stopped watching FOX News!! Everyone knows she is cute and has boobs ... for heaven's sake, it does not have to become the focal point of a news broadcast! And then add the 'cutsie banter' that she engages in with her fellow broadcasters, and I am a bit overwhelmed with nausea. Young girls and women who watch this NON-news are certainly confused by what they must feel society expects of THEM! For myself, if I wanted to indulge in such nonsense, I would feel I had lost my intellectual capacity to even understand the news~
Why FOX has not upgraded their own expectations of putting out a product that would be informative, I don't know ... unless it is because their phones, etc., were inundated with calls from MEN who needed fantasy more than the news itself. Sad state of affairs! Myself, I would rather LEARN something from a true Newscast!!! FOX would do well to re-name their broadcast ... to what? ... perhaps Broad cast?

Are you a man or a mouse? Why can't you control your dirty thoughts? You wrote a long comment that seemed to make sense except you didn't mention your concern or inability to control your own thoughts. Are you that weak? It doesn't seem like very many people share your concern.
Bea 10-02-2009 @ 11:21AM
Om! Ok now, you put it in a well respective way, but common now. Couldn't you have put this shorter. Yes, you're right about what you said, but omg! make it short next time. You started to bore me.........

I totally agree!! WHY must some women show off everything that God gave them? Where is the mystery and surprise left for their husband's? Try telling your daughter for the zillionth time that her outfit is too sexy when EVERYONE at school is wearing the same thing or worse. Ladies-cover up! Show some modesty. Tes, you are lovely but we all don't need to see it. Sheesh. I am embarrassed for these women.

Oh just blow me, you skank liberal. Go watch your little socialist Katey if you want to see the ugly news.
Lois 10-02-2009 @ 12:22PM
I agree. Parents today have no control over their kids. They allow thier sons to wear crack pants and let their dahugtes boobs hang out etc. Insecure children would not need to do this. Kids do it for attention becase they fail to get it at home.

You are SO right. Reporting news doesn't mean showing boobs. It's so sad what has happened to our country.

Maybe you are to skeptical of her(anchorwomen's) motives(pun in tended).
To men,...who are the majority of the individuals watching an investment/business network, we appreciate a female who has a brain as well as the confidence in herself.
In the politically correct environment that has created division in todays status quo is just ashame. WHATever happened to the pursuit of happiness or the ability of free speech without being judged for being attractive and having the ability or means to express it. As for the teenagers and there choice of attire...THEY HAVE PARENTS...its the parents failing to parent. It is no mystery that the decline of morals can and does have a direct correlation to the removal of God and prayer in school...instead we replace it with Johnny has two Dads...and we wonder why we have a nation of young people going crazy not able to descern right from wrong. In California we cannot send our daughters to school with an aspirin but the school can secretly move her from the school to get an abortion without the parents knowledge...by LAW. Somehow in this country the tail is wagging the dog and something somehow is going to happen to where the moral compass will right itself...so if your skeptical about that...maybe you should concentrate on a matter that may have a positive impact? Like the fact that Iran is developing nuclear weapons.

Why is it the schools faulth that parents are allowing their children out of the house like this? Someone has to buy the clothes.
PatP 10-05-2009 @ 9:51AM
Boobs have replaced brains in the tv newscasters.
My Opinion 10-02-2009 @ 7:23AM
All I see is a woman that had a breast enhancement to advance her career, like the weather and traffic girls on the news networks.

WHAT'S WRONG WITH A NICE PAIR OF BOOBS?
my opinion 10-02-2009 @ 10:27AM
Nothing is wrong with a nice set of "boobs". It just that the u-tube leadin says "Liz Clayman and her fantastic body". What "fantastic body"? All I see is enhanced breast.....
