Color Chameleon: Jessica Alba keeps us - and her hair colorist - guessing. Photo: WireImage | X17online.com | Fame Pictures
StyleList fans have spoken - and Jessica Alba listened.
The star, who went from blonde to red on September 28th, quickly dyed her locks back to a more natural-looking shade of dark brown three days later.
It must have been because StyleList readers hated the new shade.
In our poll, 86% of over 25,000 voters preferred Alba in dark locks, while only 11% and 3% liked the red and blonde looks, respectively.
We wonder why the quick change: was the hair color switcharoo for a role, or did Alba just dislike her carrot top as much as you did?
And what's next - Black locks? Well, it would be right in line with the current Goth moment.

I am a haircolorist, I would guess Jessica was "going back" to brown, the red color was some sort of filler to support the brown, when going from hair that has been ligthened to blonde removing all the red , s to bring it back to brown, the blonde needs to be filled with some sort of pigment or else the brown would have had no depth and faded right out after a few washes, a true brunette is equal parts of red blue and yellow. Just my opinion

She went from blonde to red yet her tan went from tan to white? And then in three days got a little tan? That doesn't make any sense. Fortunately I would do her no matter what color her hair is.

OK For those of you who know nothing about hair color. If you are blonde and want to go back to being a Brunette, You must go Red first then back to Brown. The reason.....If you go straight from blonde to brown....your hair will be a lovely shade of GREEN!!!!

Amen to that! Some people just have no class!...& no she is not wearing a wig, if you look closely its obvious that is her own hair, but like I replied ealier, if she keeps coloring it, she might be stuck with a wig for a while =0 Yikes!! or those horrible looking hair extensions like Brittney had to sport for a year or more! Let's hope she listens to her hairdresser if she was just doing it for a change & not for a movie. As you saw on the VMA's a couple years ago, there is not enough hairspray in the world to hold down those little spikes sticking up on the top of your head w/ extensions, what a horrible look, almost as bad a bald!

Jessica Alba probably had no choice but to go red before she went dark...it wasnt that it was a bad color, it just wasnt what she desired for the end result.. As a hair stylist it is quiet obviously that the red color you see is a result of a filler (put in the hair to add warmth back) which is what you do going from so light to dark and she probably didnt have time in her schedule to get it all at once!

Also have been a hairdresser like a few others on here. Jessica went through 3 diff. colors because she had to put those essential pigments(fillers) back into her hair before she could go back to her dark brown, if you don't then look out! Your either going to have green, sometimes brassy red/yellowish hair or the color will not hold for more than a week if your lucky!LOL..been there, done that! Back in the 80's I tried to die 2 small sections of my hair black(punk days) that I had frosted over & over a few times, as a result there were no pigments left. So, my hairdresser who knew exactly what to do to make the color hold, started w/ yellow pigment, then to red & then blue, which all three had to sit on my hair from 30-60 min., one at a time before we could even think about putting on the actual hair color. The black color lasted forever without even fading, but after 7-8 months I sorta got tired of it & decided to try & go back & the only way was to bleach it back out. Mistake, Mistake, Mistake! Thank god I had about 2 inches of regrowth because after bleaching this color out, which really did come out quite easily, it all broke off right up to the new growth, thank god it was underneath my hair & couldn't be seen to well. The Moral: you can not keep changing the color of your hair or bleaching & coloring your whole head over & over or you will have none left, thats why it is bleached or dyed once & then just the roots are done every 6-8 weeks. The hair can only take so much & everyone is different, some can take more coloring than others. If I were Jessica, I would stick with her Dark Brown hair for a long while, condition like crazy or it could be a disaster! I think she's gorgeous with blonde hair, but brown hair really suits her better, and looks so much more natural. Stick w/ Brown Jess, plz!
