A: The 80s gave us an eyeful of not only bold shadow, but of even bolder lashes - electric blue and vivid purple were among the most popular mascaras. But now that you're no longer the same age as the cast of a John Hughes movie (though you still love to watch them, and that's OK!), you should go for a more subtle tone of colored mascara. Opt for deeper shades such as navy, eggplant and evergreen. They're more sophisticated (and subtle) and the richness of color helps to brighten the eye.
