Not Buying Luxury Goods? Blame Guilt

Do you feel a little knot in your stomach each time you decide to drop some -- or a lot -- of your hard-earned dough on designer duds?

Gulp. You may be experiencing the latest shopping symptom: Buyer's guilt.

Guilt, it seems, is seriously hurting sales when it comes to the luxury market, reports the Wall Street Journal.

In fact, according to at least one executive, it's the number one thing keeping people from shopping right now.

So, how do stores get folks to move past their guilt and take the plunge?

Some brands, the WSJ says, are offering charity donations with purchase. Others are trying to grow buzz by an increased online presence or by opening pop-up shops (temporary stores that are open for just a few weeks or months), the story states.
