Blake Lively Hair Mania - 'Gossip Girl' Hairstyle is the New 'Rachel'

For her role as NYC socialite Serena Van Der Woodsen, Lively has the long, luscious locks that only an Upper East Sider with mom's credit card could possibly maintain. Or, at least that's the idea behind the style.
While this latest must-have haircut is somewhat similar to Farrah Fawcett's hot style of the '70s and '80s, it bears no resemblance to the last hair craze in recent history: The Rachel.
Jennifer Aniston's famous "Friends" haircut was shoulder-length, heavily layered, and varying shades of light warm brown, while lively's look is all about the long, blonde, bombshell effect.
The look requires an overall golden blonde tone, with some lighter highlights for shine. The cut is fairly common -- long layers -- but what sets the look apart is all in the styling.
The on-set stylist, Jennifer Johnson, told the NY Times that she creates the loose, tousled look by letting Lively's hair dry in a chignon. This creates some shape and gives sexy volume when the bun is unraveled.
For those who don't have the time (or the naturally straight hair) that Lively and her character do, you can mimic the effect by using a large barrel curling iron on sections of hair, holding the iron vertically and curling away from the face to create loose, not stiff, curls.
Will it make everyone instantly look like a sexy young socialite? Nuri Yurt of NYC's Toka salon told the Times, "if anybody can handle it -- that's a question mark."
So as long as your expectations are reasonable, it's worth giving "The Serena" a try.
XOXO,

At least it's not the "Kate." For some reason, the outskirts of Pittsburgh are saturated with imitations of the the Gosselin hair-do. (Well, at least it's better than the OTHER popular hair-trend from that region...the mullet...on women....sometimes with big 80s bangs.) Yes, REALLY.
