If you struggle to get your teeth the same impossible shade of white as your favorite celeb, listen up!

Dr. Irwin Smigel, the dentist-to-the-stars who invented veneers, bonding, and the popular whitening product Supersmile, explains how the teeth whitening movement got started:

"I originally created our whitening toothpaste in the early '80s as a gift for our patients," Dr. Smigel told StyleList. It works by removing "the protein pellicle (the sticky film to which plaque and bacteria adhere) from the teeth," he explained.

The Supersmile product took off, and today celebs like J. Lo, Ivanka Trump, and Kelly Ripa are all fans of the brush-on whitener.

"I can't use trays. It's great to have a toothpaste that whitens your teeth," Kelly Ripa said.

In other teeth whitening news, Crest is one-upping their popular Whitestrips with a new design (that grips teeth better) and a new spokesperson, "Watchmen" and "Couple's Retreat" star Malin Ackerman.

I would love to whiten my teeth because I recently chopped off 16 inches of my hair AND accepted a job offer. Whiter teeth would be a great addition to my style and professional changes...not to mention make me feel more confident throughout my new endeavors.

I've had braces as an adult and I've tried everything I can afford to whiten my teeth after they came off. I just want the white teeth I use to have as a teenager.

I know that whitening your teeth is an excellent way to look younger, healthier and overall, more beautiful. I've wanted to whiten my teeth for awhile, but it is so expensive. I was super excited when I heard about this competition...I hope I win! :D

I would love to win this so I could share with my daughter. Her teeth aren't bright and white (though she doesn't smoke, drink coffee etc) and she hesitates to smile because of it. She tried Crest Whitestrips and really liked them but I can't really get more right now and feel terrible that I can't. This would make both of us happy and would target two age groups at the same time.
