Looking for Mr. Right? Then step away from the tube top!

New scientific research suggests that revealing 40 percent of your body will attract the right amount of attention from the fellows, while covering up or baring too much can backfire, as reported by the Daily Mail.

According to the paper, Leeds University psychologist Colin Hendrie established the 40 percent rule of thumb after sending four female researchers to nightclubs to observe what club-goers were wearing and how often they were approached.

The result? Ladies who flashed roughly 40 percent of skin were reportedly hit on by twice as many men as those dressed more conservatively.

(And in case you're wondering which body parts to bare, note that researchers allotted 10 percent for each exposed arm, 15 percent for each leg and 50 percent for the torso, reports the Daily Mail.)

But don't go reaching for your crop top just yet; revealing more than 40 percent was found to have a negative impact on a woman's image, according to the paper.

"Any more than 40 percent and the signal changes from 'allure' to one indicating general availability and future infidelity," Hendrie told the source.

"Show some leg, show some arm, but not any more than that."

Quick -- someone better inform Pamela Anderson!

Science, schmience. These celebrity gals love flashing a little thigh in their garters.
