Holiday gift guides. They're pretty much everywhere this time of the year. Random picks for random people.

So this year we decided to look through all the goodies out there through the eyes of five style personalities. Match the personalities to the people in your life, and choose from our carefully selected picks. It's a gift guide with style, for people with style.

We''ll start today with the Design Guru. You know her: She has a streamlined, uncluttered home. She's done wearing a trend by the time you hear about it. She may speak German and wear bold makeup. You'll never see her in jeans and a T-shirt. Unless it's a T-shirt by James Perse or Helmut Lang.

She doesn't have cable TV, but does have a big library of books (artfully arranged of course) and sleek European electronic devices. You secretly want her life a just little -- but then again you could never leave a dirty coffee cup in the sink, and who wants that?
