It looks like
Carla Bruni, is taking a page out of
Michelle Obama's style book and giving democratic fashion a chance -- um, as well as children's fashion.
As first reported by The Huffington Post, the typically
Dior-clad French First Lady/model/singer performed "
And I Love Her" alongside
Harry Connick Jr. on
"Le Grand Journal" wearing
a T-shirt, jeans and shrunken band jacket from the
Stella McCartney for GapKids line.
So, Bruni sang a Beatles song, wearing a Beatles-inspired jacket, designed by a Beatle's daughter -- we love it!
When
StyleList chatted with
McCartney at the launch of her Gap collection last month, the designer actually confided that she's been eyeing the fashionable "Miller" jacket -- named after her son and the most expensive piece in the collection, at $128 -- for herself.
"The military jacket is sort of the star of the show," she said. "If you take it up to the larger sizes, I think we can squeeze into it. I know I'm going to."
Perhaps the reason the
Sgt. Pepper-themed jacket (which was also favored by
Michael Jackson) is unavailable on
Gap.com is because adults (like
these editors at Grazia UK) have co-opted the best pieces of the
GapKids collection for themselves,
à la Bruni.
Here's a look at the Stella McCartney for GapKids collection and the jacket Bruni wore, below.

Please, do not even think that Carla B-S would look to Shelly baby for style. I would be outraged over this comment if I were Carla. Orangutangs have no style, just bow legs and jaws

"It looks like Carla Bruni, is taking a page out of Michelle Obama's style book"----what has the writer been smokin?
It was shocking that Shelly baby exposed her chest and arms at an event including the Indian first lady. I spent a few weeks in Rishikesh and a scarf or pashmina covering the shoulders and neck was the mode---has the orangutang no advisors?

I can and do wear clothes from the kids department. Most of the time, I can't get :"adult" clothes to fit. Clothes, along with meals and more than half the adult population of America, have been "supersized." People such as myself who are short and have weight proportional to weight are just plain out of luck.
If you don't believe me, next time you go shopping, try to find a size 5 women's shoe, or pants for someone with 32 inch hips.

UGH!!!! for the love of god STOP holding up the first lady as some great fashion icon. she's pretty in her own way, but she is NOT gorgeous, she is NOT outrageously fashionable, and carla bruni was looking way hotter and more fashionable before michelle obama even sniffed the white house. i'm so fed up with american media holding her up like some goddess. for pete sake, she's not an ounce as hot as someone like megan fox and she gets more "credit for being stylish." it's pathetic.

The first lady isn't "hot" like Megan Fox. She's classy, which is way more than can be said about Megan Fox. Carla Bruni is a style icon in her own right. She's younger, she's a singer, and she can pull a hotter more modern look than Michele Obama can. I think they both look great! Just different kinds of great
