For the January issue of Elle UK, the Danish cover girl goes au naturel and talks exclusively with the fashion tome about why disrobing is not a big deal.
"I have no problems with showing my body," the 5'10" mother of 10-year-old son Mingus tells the magazine. "I love breasts. I love the female shape. But I'm Danish. Everyone's naked on the beaches. We don't really give a s***." (Oh, so elegantly worded.)
No stranger to sultry photo shoots, the model -- who turns 41 this Christmas -- was photographed naked alongside Eva Herzigova, 36 and Claudia Schiffer, 39, for the current issue of i-D, stripped down for the cover of French magazine Citizen K in August, was the face of lingerie brand Agent Provocateur in late 2008 and posed for French Playboy in 2007.
"I just wanted the nudity to be in that normal, subtle way because my grandmother is still alive and I want to keep her for another 15 years -- I don't want her to get a shock!" she tells Elle UK about her risqué pictures.
We're sure grandma can handle the Elle image showing Christensen baring lots of leg and cleavage in clingy nude, pinup-worthy garments that leave little to the imagination.
Another shot shows the model completely bare on top, accessorized with only strategically placed hands -- cue "Wicked Game" video -- but is tastefully done and stunning.

"If I feel like dressing ridiculous today, I will and I don't care," she tells the magazine. "I think you've gotta have a f*** everybody attitude about it. I'm gonna do what I feel like doing."
And although she hates the term "supermodel" ("It's silly and cartoonish," she says), Christensen admits that there was definitely something about the models of the '90s that made them special.
"They all had interesting personalities and were fun," she adds. "They were versatile in their way of posing and expressing themselves. They had a certain depth to them that made you interested in more than just the facade."
To read the full interview, pick up the January issue of Elle UK, on newsstands this Wednesday (Nov. 2).
And leave a comment telling us what you think of Christensen's revealing shoot.

She should keep her clothes on, she looks emaciated. Is this the look that women aspire to? Only curvy women should pose naked, but that only my opinion.

This woman IS moderately curvy, though thin. I grant she is not voluptuous, but she is not emaciated. Emaciated is not just thin; it is ready to die of starvation. Do you seriously think this woman looks about to die? If you confuse a healthy degree of slenderness with emaciation, you may be one of the growing number of people confusing obese and lumpy with curvy.

I think Marilyn Monroe for example was curvy, however by todays standard she may be considered lumpy. This model is probably naturally thin and designer clothes would probably hang nicely on her. I agree with your point that emaciated looks ready to die of starvation but a lot of women including teens think that look is desirable and suffer for it. I don't think it is a healthy goal.

paraphrasing "models of the 90's were special, interesting and fun and had a certain depth making you interested in more than just the facade". Hmm, why do the words vaccuous and tarts spring to mind when I think of supermodels?

Are you kidding me? The AVERAGE american women has a prettier face, and if skinny is what you're looking for, open up any K-mart add--the models are surely better than this! Does this lady need a few bucks charity?

No, I don't believe that she is emaciated. She does look a bit hollow to me. I'd give her a cheeseburger. LOL
I enjoy the human body in all shapes and sizes. If you like big women, Leonard Nimoy did a very controversial book which is hard to get hold of (guess lots of people like big girls).
Now, that being said. If she chooses to pose nude, that's fine. There is a place for that. Why do magazines like Elle and others try to bring in the readership with nudes when there are places to appreciate the nude form from the classy to the raunchy?
And if you don't enjoy viewing the nude form....here in America (where I believe Elle is produced), you have the right to not look.

Most of you guys must live in low class neighborhoods where all you can afford is in Burger King. Bloated bodies from all that grease is what you all must have. To say this girl is skinny or emaciated makes me laugh. Fat America, be jealous! I don't want my woman to look like a baby bull or a fullback on a football team. Skinny is sexy!

Cobra snake! LOL! Seriously though. Not a good look. Too thin. An extra 5 lbs would be an improvement.

Guess what? We are all naked under our clothes.

The author of the article says the photographs are "tastefully" done. Really?!
If Elle or any other magazine is going to publish nudity that's OK, but if they think they think nudity is inappropriate, then don't. Coyly covering the breast only suggests that breasts are indecent (they are not) and makes the photograph suggestive and somewhat erotic.
