Katie Holmes first captured our hearts in "Dawson's Creek" as a young, fresh-faced star. But as soon as she met Tom Cruise, she abandoned her girly, youthful look, chopped off her hair, and started dressing kind of, well, matronly.

Now, that's not to say we don't understand; It can't be easy juggling movie roles, her role as a mom, and globe-trotting from movie sets to premieres at a moment's notice.

Still, we couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed every time Holmes was photographed in an unflattering pantsuit (shown here, right) or big, shapeless sweater.

Thankfully, at a Hollywood event this weekend, Katie turned it out on the red carpet (shown here, left). The star looked young again in a black mini dress, criss-cross black heels, and a gray leather jacket.

Her hair was pulled back, seemingly self-styled, but it worked -- we were sick of seeing those stiff, unforgiving Posh-like hairstyles anyway.

So thank you, Katie Holmes, for this Thanksgiving style moment. We hope you've thrown the mom pants away for good and enjoy your youth while it lasts!
