Cynthia Rowley
, that oh-so-swell designer, has truly gone mobile.

She debuts a new boutique at the Miami Design District: the Shop on Wheels, a former DHL shipping truck that has been transformed into a store.

Instead of the standard yellow-and-red DHL paint job, the "mobile fashion unit" is plastered with blue roses. Inside, it's tricked out with fabric wall coverings, Lucite fixtures and a convenient dressing room.

Clothes and accessories from the Fall/Winter 2009, Holiday 2009 and Resort 2010 collections are along for the ride, and plenty of the pieces are ready to party, like the leather dresses, spangled tights and gold wishbone necklaces.

The Shop on Wheels will roost in another Cynthia Rowley creation: a pop-up indoor park (shown above). The tall, grassy hill and swing set now fill the atrium of the 4141 Building, with the truck-shop parked alongside.

And the setting goes hand in hand with the store's Miami-exclusive item: a beige picnic blanket emblazoned "relax," which coaxes shoppers to stretch out on the grass. (Only 65 blankets were made, retailing for $120 each.) Lucky attendees can break in the blanket with a boxed lunch by Fratelli Lyon -- a local Italian restaurant -- also sold from the truck.

Rowley's installation is in good company. As part of the Limited Edition Experiences project, she joins designers like Fendi, Gucci and Proenza Schouler in dreaming up one-off merchandise and creative backdrops. The project runs from November 30 to December 30, dovetailing with the Design Miami/™ and Art Basel Miami Beach fairs in the first week of December.

Can't get to Miami? The MFU will next cruise the Southwest -- or you can schedule a personal appointment and the truck will pull into your driveway for a private trunk show. We call shotgun!

Get up to speed on another fashion mobile.
