The Limited will be a bit more embellished come spring.
The launch of Jodi Arnold's collection for The Limited will bring more detailing, more beading and more of an overall chicness to the store's offerings when it debuts on March 18, 2010.
"My aesthetic is more embellished and print-driven," Arnold told StyleList. "They allowed me a lot of freedom to do what I do. We really wanted to have the clothing work back to what The Limited does, but at the same time introducing The Limited customer to something new. It came together nicely."
Called "Craft," Arnold's line is a mix of stylish dresses and tops, with a more forward romper and a couple of chic bottoms thrown in. The name comes from the word "handcraft", which inspired the decorative bits on these pieces -- from beads and knotting to prints.
"A lot of the embellishments were inspired by crafts and the women around the world that do these crafts and pass them down from generation to generation," explained Arnold.
Her pieces are less formal and workwear-driven than The Limited's usual staples. "This brings an element of day-to-night and more relaxed clothing," Arnold says. "It gives the customer a little more versatility than what she's come to The Limited for in the past."
Standout pieces include a teal, one-shoulder embellished dress that's knit on top and woven on the bottom (above right), high-waisted shorts (above center) and simple tops made more complex with beading and other detailing.
Arnold, who also designs her own hugely popular brand, Mint, hinted at this collaboration going beyond spring when she mentioned its evolution, but clarified, "We're concentrating on this right now. We haven't really talked about the future seasons, but that's what we're hoping for."
And so are we!
